Hillary News & Views 3.17: Hillary's Historic Victories Do Not Shield Her From Misogyny

Here’s the latest count from The Green Papers, which has Clinton +325 in pledged delegates:

The state of the presidential nominating process on the Democratic Party side is now pretty much established: former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton rocked Senator Bernie Sanders' world this past Tuesday, sweeping all five Presidential Primaries held that day and- despite the "scare" the Sanders campaign might well have put in Mrs. Clinton's supporters (however much they might deny it now) via Senator Sanders' upset victory in Michigan the week before- Secretary Clinton seems well on her way to the 2016 Democratic Party presidential nomination.

This does not, of course, mean that Senator Sanders is now going to go away (nor should he! As I have written often enough before on this website [and I have said this about both Democratic and Republican presidential contenders over the now 5 Presidential Election cycles The Green Papers has been online]: if you want to run for President of the United States- even against overwhelming odds against your own success- in order to put forth the public policy options in which you most fervently believe and can still manage to have enough campaign funding to do so, then- by all means- this is America and you should just do it! Whenever I am asked whether or not this presidential contender, or that one, should now drop out of the nomination race [more usually the person doing the asking is someone who supports a different presidential contender doing better in the race], my initial response is always "Why?&quot . Senator Sanders has every right to continue to fight on, should he (and his own supporters) wish him to- certainly so long as he has not been mathematically eliminated from winning his Party's presidential nomination, if not beyond (so as to, perhaps, present his own political agenda before the Convention in Philadelphia)...

Clinton Increases Pledged Delegate Lead, +323. 1,151 - 828. Pending, 39 Delegates to Allocate.

FiveThirtyEight pledged delegate tracker

FiveThirtyEight has updated their online pledged delegate tracker.

New totals: 1,151 - 828, Clinton. projects.fivethirtyeight.com/...

Clinton’s new net pledged delegate lead is, +323. Clinton currently has a net gain of +100 delegates from Super Tuesday 2, (376 - 276).

There are still 39 delegates pending to be allocated. 16 of those outstanding pledged delegates are from Florida, so realistically Clinton’s lead could increase.

Pledged delegates left to allocate:

-Florida - 16
-Illinois - 21
-Missouri - 0
-North Carolina - 0
-Ohio - 2

39 pledged delegates yet to allocate

The NYT Upshot has a very cool interactive delegate calculator at the link below and according to their current calculator, Sanders must win all remaining contests with roughly 62% of the vote to overcome Clinton’s pledged delegate advantage. If you notice, it isn't updated with the very latest delegate totals. Going forward, Sanders must win all remaining contests like Clinton won in the south.

Pro-Hillary PAC Throws Trump’s Ad Back at Him, Mocks His ‘Good Brain’

http://www.mediaite.com/online/pro-hillary-pac-throws-trumps-ad-back-at-him-mocks-his-good-brain/

by Sam Reisman

The pro-Hillary Clinton super-PAC Priorities USA released a new video Thursday responding to — and reversing — the ad Donald Trump released the previous day.

In Trump’s original video, footage of an ISIS fighter and Russian President Vladimir Putin chuckling and performing mixed martial arts were juxtaposed with Clinton’s unfortunate decision to start barking like a dog in the middle of a rally. It concluded: “We don’t need to be a punchline.”

The Priorities USA video mirrors the structure, opening with the same Putin and ISIS images before cutting to a segment of Morning Joe.

“Who are you consulting with consistently so that you’re ready on day one?” Mika Brzezinski asks Trump.

“I’m speaking with myself, number one,” Trump responds, “because I have a very good brain and I’ve said a lot of things,” whereupon the ad cuts to a snickering Clinton and the repurposed tagline: “We don’t need to be a punchline.”

Clinton Expands Pledged Delegate Lead, +322. +99 Net Gain Per FiveThirtyEight, More to Allocate.

Clinton pledged delegate lead 1,100 - 778

It was a awesome night for the Clinton campaign. 5 wins on Super Tuesday 2 and plenty of pledged delegates added to her already formidable lead. 551 of the 691 pledged delegates have been allocated and thus far it’s 325 - 226 Clinton.

projects.fivethirtyeight.com/...

At this moment, per FiveThirtyEight’s pledged delegate tracker, it’s currently a +99 net gain for Clinton from her prior lead of +223. Tentatively, +322 lead for Clinton.

According to the tracker, there are still 140 delegates to be allocated.

Then Senator Obama largest lead in 2008 was 157 delegates. Clinton won several large states after he established this lead. She was never able to recover from this deficit. Her lead over Sanders is now more than twice as large as Obama ever had.

When the remaining delegates from yesterday are calculated, she should increase her current lead even further.

Hillary News & Views 3.16: Clinton's Victory Speech, Delegate Lead Dramatically Increased

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/3/16/1502116/-Hillary-News-Views-3-16-Clinton-s-Victory-Speech-Delegate-Lead-Dramatically-Increased

By Lysis

oday’s Hillary News & Views begins with Clinton’s victory speech in West Palm Beach, Florida, given after her Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio wins were called, but before her victories in Illinois and Missouri.

Vox transcribes:

Oh, thank you so much! Thank you! Thank you all so very much.

Well, I'll tell you, this is another Super Tuesday for our campaign.

Thank you, Florida, thank you, North Carolina, thank you, Ohio. We know we will add to our delegate lead to roughly 300, with over two million more votes nationwide. We are moving closer to securing the Democratic Party nomination and closer to winning this election in November.

And our supporters across the country, our campaign has won more votes than any other candidate, Democrat or Republican. And I want to congratulate Senator Sanders for the vigorous campaign he's waging.

Now today, all of you in the states where contests were held voted to break down the barriers that hold us all back, so every one of us can share in the promise of America. You voted. You voted for our tomorrow to be better than our yesterday. Tomorrow where all of us do our part and everyone has a chance to live up to his or her god given potential. Because that's how America can live up to its potential too.

‘You’re a Trickle-Down Media Whore!’: Sam Bee’s Panel with Trump Supporters Was Absolutely Bonkers

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/youre-a-trickle-down-media-whore-sam-bees-panel-with-trump-supporters-was-absolutely-bonkers/

By Ken Meyer

On the latest episode of Full Frontal, Samantha Bee presented an interview she did with Donald Trump‘s supporters as she tried to figure out why so many love the man despite his parade of controversies.

Moving past the “racist thug” supporters that have marred recent Trump rallies with contention, Bee’s panel was a group of bipartisan, college-educated, and multi-ethnic people all bound by support for The Donald. As the panel turned its ire against the mainstream media, Bee explained that it is simply impossible for media to ignore Trump’s rhetoric encouraging violence against protestors and incendiary proposals like banning Muslims (“temporarily!” the panel shouted back to clarify).

Watch the Broad City Cast Completely Lose Their Sh*t Over Hillary Clinton’s Cameo

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/watch-the-broad-city-cast-completely-lose-their-sht-over-hillary-clintons-cameo/

by Ken Meyer

Hillary Clinton is making an appearance on this week’s episode of Broad City, and judging by the cast’s reactions, they are really, reeeaaally excited.

Clinton announced that she would appear on the show in December, but the precise date of her cameo was unknown until Comedy Central posted a preview of their upcoming episode. The episode will focus on Ilana Glazer‘s character, according to The Verge, but it will end up with her and Abbi Jacobson giving themselves a tour of Clinton’s campaign headquarters in Brooklyn.

The two spend a bit of time looking around and taking in the scene, but when Clinton herself walks up, let’s just say that completely flipping out might be an understatement for their enthusiasm.

Lezley McSpadden, Mother of Michael Brown, Endorses Hillary. "I Trust Hillary Clinton."

Lezley McSpadden endorsed Hillary for President. I hope she joins the Mothers of the Movement as well. These courageous women can make a real difference.

www.washingtonpost.com/...

The mother of Michael Brown, the 18-year-old whose 2014 shooting by police in Ferguson, Mo., ignited protests that lasted for weeks, is backing Democrat Hillary Clinton.

"When I lost my son, I lost my world. 'Big Mike' was a big boy, but he was my baby boy; my only child, and his life was brutally taken from me," Lezley McSpadden wrote in her endorsement statement.

McSpadden praised Clinton's "realistic proposals" on health care, housing, education and other issues, and she said Clinton is "the candidate most likely to achieve the task of working across party lines to get needed legislation passed."

McSpadden also appeared to make references to the Republicans running against Clinton and to President Obama, whose legacy Clinton regularly tells African American audiences she will protect.

“This election season, we are at battle for the soul of our nation," McSpadden said. "If we want to continue to build on the progress made by our country, we need a president who is ready to lead — and I trust Hillary Clinton."
