WaPo's Paul Waldman: No, Clinton will not be indicted; the email issue is a non-scandal

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/3/4/1495858/-WaPo-s-Paul-Waldman-No-Clinton-will-not-be-indicted-and-the-email-issue-is-a-non-scandal

By Realistiko

Calling the email issue a non-scandal, progressive writer Paul Waldman today wrote,

“ For Clinton to be charged with mishandling classified information, she would have had to knowingly passed such information to someone not authorized to have it — like David Petraeus showing classified documents to his mistress — or acted with such gross negligence that people without authorization were bound to see it. According to what we know, neither of those things happened."

He went on,

In recent weeks, I’ve had a couple of liberal friends and relatives ask me, with something approaching panic, “I just heard that Clinton is about to be indicted. Is that true?!?” The answer is no, but they heard that because it’s something conservatives say constantly. Tune to to talk radio or surf through conservative web sites, and before long you’ll hear someone say that the Clinton indictment is coming any day now. Donald Trump, with his characteristically tenuous relationship to reality, frequently says that she’s about to be indicted or that she won’t be permitted to run for president because she’ll be on trial. It hasn’t happened and it won’t happen, but that isn’t going to stop them from saying it.

The story is worth reading, although in my opinion Waldman underestimates the role Bernie Sanders supporters have played in spreading these memes.

I even think many Bernie supporters do not believe Clinton will be indicted, but pretend she will, just because they believe this might hurt her in the polls.

Police confirm Trump campaign wanted peaceful black students kicked out of rally

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/3/4/1495812/-Police-confirm-Trump-campaign-wanted-peaceful-black-students-kicked-out-of-rally

By Laura Clawson

After about 30 black students were kicked out of a Donald Trump rally on Monday, apparently just for being black, Trump’s campaign denied having asked for the students to be removed. About that:

“A member of the [Trump] event staff approached a member of our agency and requested that the group be asked to leave,” Capt. Stryde Jones, a Lowndes County Sheriff’s officer, told the network.

Another member of local law enforcement who worked the event backed up Jones’ account.

“I spoke to a Trump staffer, whose name I do not have, she told us that they needed to leave,” Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress told MSNBC. “Not only did I talk to a Trump staffer, so did the University police, and we were told over the radio by the Sheriff’s office that Trump staff wanted them out.”

You’d think kicking people out of a rally because of the color of their skin would be something the Trump campaign would be comfortable admitting to—isn’t that kind of Trump’s whole policy agenda in a nutshell?—but apparently they don't have the courage of their convictions on this one. If you were tempted to believe those denials from the Trump team, though, think again. They’re really as disgusting and racist as they appear.

Republican says Obamacare saved his life: 'Thank you for serving me even when I didn’t vote for you'

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/3/4/1495737/-Republican-says-Obamacare-saved-his-life-Thank-you-for-serving-me-even-when-I-didn-t-vote-for-you

By Jen Hayden

Brent Brown tells a crowd Obamacare saved his life

Brent Brown introduced President Obama at an event in Milwaukee yesterday. He told the crowd about a letter he sent to President Obama, something he never would’ve imagined he’d be doing. Brent is a Republican voter who has admittedly said terrible things about the president in the past. But, Brent said that all changed when he became gravely ill and the Affordable Care Act saved his life. He sent a crushingly honest letter to President Obama, apologizing for his brash opposition to the president and the Affordable Care Act.

Watch Brent Brown deliver his story to a Wisconsin audience. It’s more proof that no matter your political affiliation, we simply can’t go back to a world where insurance is denied to those with pre-existing conditions.

Clinton Expands Base-Prepares for General Election

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/3/4/1495775/-Clinton-Expands-Base-Prepares-for-General-Election

By Skywatch

On the Road to the White House

Hillary Clinton’s coalition continues to grow as she makes preparations to take on the demagogue Donald Trump in the General Election. Clinton’s standing among the base has intensified since super Tuesday in large part due to her overwhelming support among women, blacks, and older voters.

Among African Americans, Clinton has garnered more support then did Barack Obama during the 2008 campaign, an astonishing 80+ support in South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia and Texas. They comprised more than half of voters in Alabama and Georgia, one third of voters in Tennessee, and one quarter of voters in Virginia and Arkansas. In Texas, where a third of voters were Hispanic, she garnered more than 70% of their vote.

Nearly two thirds of Clinton supporters were women, and two thirds were 45 years of age or older.

Clinton also made inroads with younger (30-44) voters, nearly 60% of whom supported her. In contrast Sanders had been leading among all voters under the age of 45 in the first three contests in February, but that appears to be changing now that Clinton is on her way to the nomination.

Among those who voted for Clinton, 90% said that the most important quality they were looking for was political experience and leadership. Two thirds of her voters want to continue Pres. Obama’s policies.

Hillary News & Views 3.4: Newspaper, Union Endorsements; Women's History

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/3/4/1495674/-Hillary-News-Views-3-4-Newspaper-Union-Endorsements-Women-s-History

By Lysis

Today’s Hillary News & Views begins with another round of endorsements.

Miami Herald endorses:

Mr. Sanders, despite his unrealistic economic plan, is leading a movement of like-minded followers. The party needs someone who can attract a bigger following.

That role belongs to Ms. Clinton. She has broader appeal both among Democrats and the wider American electorate. She also boasts a better track record of success on Capitol Hill than her opponent from Vermont.

She has mastered the detailed approach to policy on a wide range of issues, everything from healthcare to foreign policy. She speaks for generations of women who have suffered discrimination in the workplace, energetically defends healthcare reform (when she ran in 2008, her proposal would have covered everybody), and has the character to confront critics in Congress — or work with them in a spirit of compromise.

No candidate in either party can match her résumé for the job of president.

Bernie Sanders is the candidate for those who want to send a message about inequality. Hillary Clinton is the candidate for those who want to fix it. In Florida’s Democratic primary, our choice for presidential nominee is Hillary Clinton.

No, The KKK Is Not And Has Never Been Liberal: A Historysplainer

http://wonkette.com/599254/no-the-kkk-is-not-and-has-never-been-liberal-a-historysplainer

By C.A. Pinkham

Of course the Ku Klux Klan was never on the side of liberals and progress. This goes without saying. There can’t possibly be anyone who disputes this basic notion, could there?

Of course there could. Of fucking course there could. Why do we even bother to assume a basic faith in the decency and intelligence of humanity?

Oh God, What The Fuck Happened Now?

The internet was abuzz all Wednesday with reports of an Epic™ confrontation between two CNN pundits on Super Tuesday: Van Jones (a Democrat) and Jeffrey Lord (a Bag of Assholes). After Lord insisted Donald Trump had disavowed the KKK “many, many, many, many times” and that Democrats were just trying to score political points by making a big deal out of Trump saying, “new phone, who dis?” when confronted by Jake Tapper, Lord and Jones got into it.

In particular, let’s focus our attention on one exchange at 2:15:

JONES: I know this man, when he gets passionate about terrorism, I know how he talks about terrorism, the Klan is a terrorist organization.

LORD: It’s a leftist terrorist organization.

NO. Nope. NEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWP. That statement is the wrongest wrong that has ever been wronged. That statement could not possibly be more Wrong with a capital “W” if it simultaneously blamed vaccines for autism, claimed the Holocaust didn’t happen, and sodomized a turkey. One day, they will build monuments to the wrongness of Jeffrey Lord’s five fantastically dumbshit words, except they won’t, because they will be too busy wondering who exactly the fuck is Jeffrey Lord?

Well, he is the guy who then said this:

JONES: You can put whatever label you want, that’s your game to play.

LORD: No, it’s important to history.

Oh, you didn’t. You fucking DID NOT.

‘Warren is a Wuss’: Bernie Sanders Fans Turn on Elizabeth Warren For Not Endorsing

http://www.mediaite.com/online/warren-is-a-wuss-bernie-sanders-fans-turn-on-elizabeth-warren-for-not-endorsing/

by Tommy Christopher

With the Republican presidential primary devolving into a Jerry Springer episode shot on location at the Thunderdome, it’s easy to forget the sundry internal dramas playing out among Democrats. While there’s an obvious split between the Obama coalition that largely supports Hillary Clinton and the progressiver-than-thou wing that supports Bernie Sanders, there now appears to be a schism-within-a-schism developing between Sanders supporters and progressive saint Senator Elizabeth Warren.

At issue is Warren’s failure to endorse Bernie Sanders ahead of Super Tuesday, which supporters feel could have delivered Sanders a victory in the closely-fought Massachusetts primary. RawStory’s TBogg collected some Bernie fans’ reactions from Warren’s Facebook page:

Your unwillingness to endorse Bernie prior to Super Tuesday indicates to me that your fear of pressure from Hillary friends on Capitol Hill “trumps” your commitment to the progressive cause. I have lost faith in you and the DNC.

Elizabeth – is there ANY reason on God’s green earth that you’re sitting quiet in the corner while Bernie is awaiting your endorsement? Am I missing something here???

Is she really part of the establishment? How can she, as a representative of the people, as a self proclaimed progressive, not publicly endorse Bernie Sanders? Do you think she owes Clinton some political favors? hmmmm.

With every day that passes without your endorsement of Sanders, Wall Street rejoices, and the corporate owned Hillary Clinton is validated. Shame on you.

Sen Warren let all of the progressives down and the country by not endorsing us before Super Tuesday. With her help, we could have and should have won Mass. Why and what does she have up her sleeve???

Karl Rove’s money? Are you smoking crack? I love Elizabeth and would have supported her over Bernie had she chose to run, but I am deeply disappointed in her for not supporting Bernie when it mattered. She will lose ALL credibility if she supports Hillary at any point as Shillary is tied to Wall Street.
