Militants killed, hostages freed after ISIS attack on oil field near Kirkuk, Iraq

Source: CNN

(CNN) — An ISIS hostage-taking at an oil field near the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk has ended with the attackers killed and their captives safely freed, a senior security source in the city told CNN.

Four hostages -- employees of the Iraqi North Oil Company -- were taken captive after four attackers, believed to be wearing suicide vests, stormed the Bai Hassan oil field northwest of Kirkuk on Sunday, the source said.

One of the attackers blew himself up when security forces responded. The other attackers were later killed by security forces.

Yes, boys, you CAN have sex slaves: Outrage as British Muslim cleric at mosque where Cardiff jihadis

Source: Daily Mail

A hardline Muslim preacher suspected of radicalising three British jihadis told teenage disciples that it is ‘permissible’ under Islam to have sex slaves.

Ali Hammuda, an Imam at a Cardiff mosque where three young jihadis from the city worshipped before travelling to Syria to join Islamic State, also told the group of boys as young as 13 that the ‘day of judgment is close’ – a key part of IS’s warped propaganda.

The revelations come amid heightened fears over the Islamist terror threat in the UK in the wake of the bloody attacks in France.

Hammuda is still preaching at the same mosque, two years after the three ‘Cardiff jihadis’ – Nasser Muthana and Reyaad Khan, then 20, and Muthana’s younger brother Aseel, then 17 – left for Syria in 2014.

Anyone here who knows Trump - ask him to stop whining and lying

he's a disgrace and a huge disaster. He needs to stop lying or graciously accept defeat and not spread hatred.

MSNBC: by going right you are destroying your viewership

I'm disappointed that MSNBC is being so critical of the dems - not factually critical which is okay - but critical on subjective stuff.

They are going to lose their audience - I used to watch Rachel and now I've switched away.

Police in Brazil arrest group suspected of planning terror attack during Rio Games

Source: Washington Post

RIO DE JANEIRO — Brazilian police have arrested 10 people suspected of planning terrorist attacks during the Rio Olympics, Brazilian prosecutors in the southern state of Parana said Thursday.

The 10, all Brazilians, had declared loyalty to the Islamic State and were communicating via cellphone messenger services Telegram and WhatsApp to plan attacks during the Summer Games, which open Aug. 5, Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes told reporters in the capital, Brasilia. The arrests took place in 10 different states, and police issued arrest warrants for two more suspects.

"Operation Hashtag, triggered by federal police this Thursday morning, investigates the possible participation of Brazilians in a criminal organization with international reach, as an Islamic State cell in this country,” the prosecutor’s office in Parana said in a statement. It added that “12 arrest warrants for temporary custody of 30 days were issued and may be extended for 30 more."

De Moraes said the group’s leader was based in Curitiba, capital of Parana state. Only four of the suspects had met personally, but they had declared loyalty to the Islamic State and discussed practicing shooting and martial arts, de Moraes said. One had began emailed negotiations to buy an AK-47 assault rifle on the Internet, he said.

Bangladesh says 261 missing amid radicalisation fears

Source: Times of India

DHAKA: Doctors, engineers and university students are among 261 people officially missing in Bangladesh, with some feared recruited by Islamic militant groups, as the country reels from a wave of deadly attacks.

More than two weeks after Islamists killed 20 foreign hostages in a siege at a cafe in Dhaka, police published a list overnight Tuesday of those missing and urged information on their whereabouts.

"We have to find them," elite Rapid Action Battalion spokesman Mufti Mahmud Khan told AFP, without saying how many were suspected to have joined extremist groups at home and abroad.

Bangladesh was spurred into launching a nationwide hunt for people reported missing by their families in recent times, following the July 1 siege claimed by Islamic State group(IS).

More suspects arrested in connection with truck attack in Nice

Source: Washington Post

NICE, France — French authorities on Sunday arrested two more suspects, a man and a woman, potentially linked to the man who rammed a truck into crowds, killing 84 people in this French Riviera city, as investigators sought to determine the man’s path to radicalization and whether he acted alone.

The total of people detained in the attack rose to seven, including the wife of the attacker, Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel. His wife was reportedly released from custody Sunday morning, according to authorities speaking to local media. If confirmed, that would leave six still being held for questioning.

Bouhlel, 31, was a “soldier of the Islamic State,” the militant group declared Saturday. French authorities said the Tunisian-born Frenchman was inspired by terrorist organizations.

Sixteen victims have still not been identified, and a child was still fighting for its life, French Health Minister Marisol Touraine told reporters Sunday.
