My song for today!

April 27, 2016

Face-to-face, facts and truthiness is our greatest weapon.

Not all but most of Trump supporters are angry because they know their own situation and because they have been fed a steady diet of half-truths, fear factors, lies, and race and hate garbage.

What Democrats need to do is to first stop trashing each other including our current administration and Bill Clinton's past administrations. Bill made some mistakes but instead of harping on those mistakes we need to remind people (as blacks remember) how we felt during his administration and how we prospered during his administration. The feelings of divisions existed mostly withing the GOP and not our party then. We were proud of the housing bubble and the surplus and the reduction in crime and the cabinet that looked like America and the Clinton/Gore programs of "putting people first."

He signed and pushed NAFTA, true, but NAFTA did not alone cause the loss of the 15 million or more jobs we faced since then and we do ourselves a disservice when we pretend that over 800,000 jobs were lost directly related to NAFTA. We need to study and explain the facts to people. Technology and automation are responsible for most of the jobs lost before and since NAFTA and NAFTA actually created jobs in some area. Trade is not bad when it protects the interests of the parties involved. In fact, without trade, most of what is left of our industries would collapse because American consumers alone cannot sustain them. We won't be able to fight this truthiness fight depending on the mainstream media to get the truth out there we will have to do it by adopting the strategy that Hillary has employed so effectively throughout her campaign. She didn't do it by holding huge rallies where the candidate gets to hear only herself speak. She did it by early on holding small town hall meetings around the country, speaking directly with voters, whether they were for or against her. She did it by proposing policies and programs designed to impact the voters where they live and where they are suffering. People like to feel that they are being addressed directly. Democrats need to begin to do this now and take the message directly to Trump strongholds. Conduct more and more town halls that allow the voters to give voice to their concerns and provide teachable moments about the economy, trade, and the military, jobs and healthcare. Most of the voters in these areas only know about these issues from what they hear from Rush, FOX, and Trump. Some won't change their minds because they are determined not to, but you would be surprised by how much a little inclusion and explanations goes. Bill Clinton did this even in large groups and like it or not people learned something when he spoke. That is why he is referred to as the "explainer-in-chief." It can be done, but we have no time to waste.

We need to stop backbiting each other's supporters. Even if some proposals seem unrealistic to some, the hope and promise they bring is worth holding onto. If we wait until CA primaries it will be too late. We need to start now. And we need to stop being our own worse enemies by buying into the meme that Hillary is guilty of high crimes, and the she is corrupt. If all this is true, it will play out but in the meantime we have an election to win and a Senate to win back. We won't be able to do that by giving Trump his talking points and by ignoring his outrageous and hateful speech and intentions. Going for the perfect at the expense of the good has never worked for anyone. The perfect can be the goal but it shouldn't be are target.

Hillary will not be able to meet and greet in all those little hamlets and town halls but the Democrats have enough foot soldiers to get out there and do it with her. Bernie would be the greatest asset along with his ardent supporters. BUT we must all educate ourselves and arm ourselves with the facts and the truth about our economic woes, the real causes, the potential outcomes and what we can do to make life better for all of us.

I encourage all of us to go to the Bernie and Hillary sites where their proposals are outlined and explained. Most of us have not. We need to do this so that we educate ourselves and so that we will be prepared to respond to anyone who asks us questions...even the cable pundits and most ardent Trump supporter. We can do this, and it doesn't cost a lot of money. We cans reserve all those contributions coming in right now for the GE and just spend time and presence to begin the ground work. We will need help from the DNC to begin to arrange for town halls and small group meetings in strategic areas of the country. All they have to do is set up the meetings, and ask for well-informed volunteers from the Hillary and Bernie camps in those areas to give their time. Phone banking is nice but face-to-face is better. I'm in! What about you? Sending this to the DNC after signing off.

So now MSNBC has pivoted to supporint Trump. They are doing better in pushing Trump than

the RNC. So now Hillary has to run against Bernie supporters, MSNBC, the GOP and everyone else in between.

Bernie can still hang on for the convention but he should do so by not trashing Hillary any more.

Instead, he should push his issues and use this time to get his supporters on board the GE train for Hillary. Otherwise, he his hurting more than Hillary and Dem party, he will be hurting the country.

Morning Joe campaigning for Bernie just got him to say the words Elizabeth Warren.

What a set up right before 5 major primaries. They really know how to stack the deck for Bernie. It is sickening. Typing my rant to Morning Joe and Mika right after this.

He didn't say he would choose Warren but they couched in such a way that they can report the innuendo that he might chose Warren as a running mate.

Just plain sickening.

Bernie just repeated Hillary's positions on just about everything from war to justice. Morning Joe

Once again Joe and Mika campaigning for Bernie.

Bernie won't say he will support Hillary.
10 minute free ad for Bernie.

Just a real angry old man.
