An example of Republican rule in North Carolina

I just heard this one on the radio this afternoon while out in the car. A federal appeals court just ruled 2-1 upholding 2011 legislation pushed the North Carolina state legislature that allows the state to sell specialty license plates that are anti-choice ("Choose Life&quot while not allowing the sale of license plates with a pro choice message ("Respect Choice&quot .

Here is a story on it.

"We now conclude that specialty license plates issued under North Carolina's program amount to government speech and that North Carolina is therefore free to reject license plate designs that convey messages with which it disagrees," Chief Judge William Traxler wrote in the appeals court's majority decision.

North Carolina native and appeals court Judge James Wynn dissented, saying the other two judges were misreading the implications of the Supreme Court's Texas case. He said expressions on license plates aren't purely the government's expression of messages it approves. Legislators themselves recognized that the tags were intended to be a forum for private expression by the people who buy them.>

The North Carolina primary is one of the primaries next Tuesday. Does anybody know how to pass a local issue like this on the Sanders campaign?

NPR on politics a few minutes ago; Hillary in Tampa

On All Things Considered as I was out in the car. First, a preview of tonight's Republican debate. Then, a short piece on Hillary campaigning today in Tampa in front of a crowd of 1200 (the Tampa paper says the crowd was "about 600"; the seating capacity for the venue is 600 theater style or 1114 standing room). They played a clip of her talking about Florida's governor Rick Scott telling environmental regulators not to use the term "climate change" and turning down federal money for high speed rail between Tampa and Orlando. They said despite having a big lead in the Florida polls against Democratic rival Bernie Sanders, Hillary was campaigning in Florida.

There was no mention by NPR that Bernie is doing 3 events today in Florida to much larger crowds.

The Tampa paper online said Hillary spoke for 26 minutes.

Hillary's Dad: "If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true."

Quoted by Hillary during the debate on Bernie's single payer healthcare plan:

She didn't mention that her Dad was a conservative Republican. And Bernie responded: "So what Secretary Clinton is saying is that the United States should continue to be the only major country on Earth that doesn't guarantee healthcare to all of its people."

Is Hillary running as a Republican or a Democrat?

Trump advisor: Pleased to see Hillary has a Reaganite streak to her.

He said he was glad to see Hillary support Reagan's policies in Nicaragua in the 1980's.

Hillary says"Bernie stands with vigilantes and the border minutemen." Wow. Sick. This approach/insanity will backfire.

I take back my praise for these moderators

We want to listen to the candidates, not the moderators going "your time is up, your time is up, your time is up" after 30 seconds when the candidates are just getting into their answer or having some interaction. They're not giving the candidates time to speak in sentences. Bernie wasn't given enough time to respond to the revolving door between Wall Street and government because by the time he responded briefly to Hillary's smear on how he criticizes Bill Clinton and Obama but not George W. Bush, his time was up.

Hillary goes from ridiculing Bernie's single payer plan
