The first time I saw or heard of Muhammad Ali.

He had already changed his name. He was on the Wide World of Sports with Ernie Terrell going over their fight. Terrell had an eyepatch on from an injury suffered during the fight. Ali had purposely held back from finishing off Terrell because Terrell kept calling him Clay. Ali kept taunting 'What's my name?"

It seemed cruel and childish at the time to me, a boy aged 9, and I was not left with a good impression of Ali.

That changed once I saw more of him, but that's how it started.

On a trip to Japan last year, one of the places I visited was Kyoto, home to over 2,000 Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. During one of my daily walks exploring the city and its forested borders, I came across the Ryōan-ji temple, one of the most beautiful Buddhist temples in the world. As you would expect, the temple grounds were full of tourists and locals enjoying the cool May breeze. There were also a handful of Buddhist monks actively engaged in Zen meditation. While meditating, these robed monks seemed impervious to any distraction, a huge feat considering the number of people on the grounds that day. Impressive, yes, but no doubt a mastery gained because, well, what else are monks going to do all day?

But then as I continued roaming the temple grounds, I came across a Japanese woman decked out in a clearly expensive business suit sitting cross-legged on the ground, with her heels and purse placed at her side. She too was meditating exactly as the monks were—eyes closed, effortless breathing, seemingly impervious to the noise of the people around her. I watched her for 10 minutes, and she didn’t open her eyes once, nor move much at all. Then finally she opened her eyes, smiled at me, and got up, where a smartly dressed assistant who I hadn’t noticed before bowed and then led her to a black luxury car where a driver was likely waiting to take her off to some business meeting.

That’s the day I first became interested in Zen meditation. It was the day I realized that it’s not just for monks and new-age hippies. Indeed, recent scientific studies support the facts that the 1,500-year-old practice that originated in China and then spread to Japan, Vietnam, Korea, and, more recently, to the West, has real-world mental and physical health benefits that everyone—not just monks—can benefit from.

These studies have shown that meditation like the kind practiced in Zen Buddhism can do everything from ease anxiety and stress to lessen the perception of pain to make us more focused and productive at work.

Source: Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is promoting Elizabeth Warren

as a candidate to be Hillary - Politico

Harry Reid is quietly promoting Elizabeth Warren as a top pick to be Hillary Clinton’s running mate, and the Senate minority leader is already looking into Massachusetts law to see how quickly her Senate seat could be filled if Warren does ascend to the vice presidency, a source close to him said Friday.

Reid views Warren as someone who can unite the Democratic Party after the longer-than-expected primary battle between Clinton and Bernie Sanders, the source said. The person confirmed a Boston Globe story that reported Reid was actively researching the state’s special election rules.

“He thinks Warren is a good choice to unify the party,” the person close to Reid said.
This is a shift of sorts for Reid, who said recently that he would object to Clinton choosing any vice presidential pick from the Senate who represents a state led by a GOP governor who would then choose the person’s replacement. That could create another hurdle for Democrats looking to regain Senate control this fall.

I feel so bad for this person.



The unidentified woman who got egged Thursday night at a raucous Donald Trump rally became a flashpoint and a trending Twitter moment as the Republican presidential candidate spoke at the San Jose Convention Center.

Her identity remained a mystery on Friday. Even a front desk employee at the Hilton San Jose hotel where she was attacked, didn't think she was a guest there.

But her image was documented by reporters, citizen journalists and photographers, showing the aftermath of what happened to her: Her blond hair and cheeks were streaked with egg yolk.

Sara Murray from CNN also captured the woman, who appears to be in her 30s and wearing a red-white-and-blue USA Trump T-shirt, entering the hotel, which is connected to the convention center. Murray tweeted that the woman “flipped the bird and taunted” anti-Donald Trump protesters, who in turn, threw egg on her. Other witnesses told NBC Bay Area that the woman and her friend were harassing them, and yelling racist remarks before the egg was lobbed.

Not looking good for Ali

Sources--who asked to remain anonymous--have told AP that Ali's condition is far more severe than previously expected. The insiders have also revealed that Ali's current state is concerning his family members, as it's the most serious he's ever been in.

Currently getting care in the Phoenix area, unfortunately, things aren't looking so great for the 74-year-old champ. Mirror is even reporting that the former boxer has been placed on life support. The website adds that doctors fear that "the end is near."

Ali has been battling Parkinson's disease for the past 30 years. He was last hospitalized back in Jan. 2015 for a severe urinary tract infection, but released just a few days later.

Let face it, the last hope of the Bernie people is a Second Fitzmas

"Fitzmas" is the atmosphere of excitement and anticipation preceding the conclusion of Patrick Fitzgerald's grand jury investigation into the Bush regime's treason and perjury.

That's what they're hoping for. They want Hillary to be indicted. Her crime - she stands between their God - Bernie and the nomination.

Never mind there is no prayer of an indictment, they want her indicted and will post any source they can find - as long as it says Hillary will be indicted.

We should reject these people now. They are never going to vote for Hillary. They need to go now. Don't wait for the translation.
