HUFFPOLLSTER: Viewers Liked Hillary Clinton’s Acceptance Speech

‘WE’ WORKS BETTER THAN ‘I’ IN CONVENTION SPEECHES - Adam Tiouririne and Andre Tartar: “A Bloomberg Politics study of convention speeches dating back to 1976, the first time both parties held nationwide primaries and caucuses, shows that the electorate ultimately favors those candidates who use more ‘we’ words—we, us, our, ours, ourselves, and let’s—relative to ‘me’ words—I, me, my, mine, and myself. In nine of 10 elections since 1976, the nominee who notched a higher ‘we’-per-’me’-word score in his convention speech went on to win the White House. The sole exception was 1988, when George H. W. Bush won the presidency despite delivering a more self-focused convention speech than his Democratic rival, Michael Dukakis.” [Bloomberg]

I think President Obama will deal with the Protesters...

I'm 65. I was 18 in 1968 and was strongly against the Viet Nam war. I strongly disagreed with the Iraq war... so much so that I printed photos, political cartoons and other printable materials, laminated them and stapled them onto my picket fence in my front yard.

I'M talking more than 100....

Not once, not twice but 3 times I came home from work to find the laminated materials pulled down and placed into my mail box. After the 3rd time, I built a large billboard to staple the materials to and moved behind the fence into my front yard.

So I can appreciate the passion of these people. And I probably could not have been persuaded otherwise... 3 times I stapled them back.... so I hope President Obama will smooth over......

And by the way, I live in the South.... guess I was lucky I wasn't burned out...

The stories of the Mothers of the Movement are so powerful.

It's Jess again. The stories of the Mothers of the Movement are so powerful. This photo from the convention reminds me of the future we're working towards. Hillary has a plan to reform our criminal justice system. Reply JUSTICE to learn how.

But nobody expected that at a rally for his delegates later in the morning Bernie Sanders would be booed as well when he exhorted his followers to support Hillary Clinton. The lusty booing at both events led to a day of breathless media reporting about crazed Sanders supporters promising to disrupt the convention. Reporters took to the streets to interview every odd duck protester they could find to back up their prediction. There were plenty of them. Philadelphia was crawling with thousands of protesters for various causes and virtually all of them were Bernie Sanders supporters vowing never to vote for Hillary Clinton. Or so it seemed on television anyway.

Then Senator Sanders sent this text to his supporters:
Our credibility as a movement will be damaged by booing, turning of backs, walking out or other similar displays. That's what the corporate media wants. That's what Donald Trump wants. But that's not what will expand the progressive movement in this country. I know everyone is frustrated especially by the the recent DNC disclosures. But as a result of this disclosure Debbie Wassserman Schgultz was forced to esign. This is a very positive sign. We have made great progress in the last year. Let's continue going forward. I would ask you as a personal courtesy to me to not engage in any kind of protest of demonstration on the convention floor.

All About the Speechwriter Behind Michelle Obama's Rousing DNC Address

First Lady Michelle Obama's speech brought a divided Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton crowd together last night after she spoke out against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump without ever saying his name, addressing the Democratic National Convention forcefully and personally.

While Michelle Obama plays a significant role in writing her own speeches, the White House acknowledged that she did receive some help from Sarah Hurwitz, a speechwriter who previously worked for Hillary Clinton and who even wrote the speech that Melania Trump was accused of plagiarizing at the RNC just a week earlier.

Sarah Hurwitz currently serves, according to the White House, as senior advisor to the White House Council on Women and Girls.

She also serves as senior presidential speechwriter, according to her bio on The Truman National Security Project. Prior to working for the first lady and president, Hurwitz served as a speechwriter for Clinton, Gen. Wesley Clark, Sen. John Kerry, and Sen. Tom Harkin.

Like her boss, Hurwitz is a Harvard graduate, receiving her law degree from the school as well.

The ominous Trump-Russia link: What happens if Moscow really is meddling in the 2016 race?

Vice News’ Thomas Rid compiled all the publicly available evidence surrounding the hacking of the DNC, which was first reported last month. There’s a lot of technical jargon, but he writes that “the forensic evidence linking the DNC breach to known Russian operations is very strong,” while the evidence linking its dissemination to the Russians “is not as solid, yet a deception operation… is still highly likely.” The FBI is investigating the case, and as the Daily Beast reported Monday, the working theory is that the operation was intended to sway the presidential election in Donald Trump’s favor:
