Police frisk former running back Ricky Williams for taking a walk, suspiciously???

How do you feel about this? A person living in a neighborhood of Tyler, Texas, calls the police about a suspicious man allegedly jumping fences into people's yards. The cops respond and question Ricky Williams, a former NFL and University of Texas star running back. They don't recognize who he is initially but treat him a bit differently afterward. He's also a cast member on the current season of Celebrity Apprentice, by the way. He's also a big marijuana advocate (not judging, just noting).

Anyway, Williams insists he was staying at the nearby hotel and all he was doing was going for a walk. Do you think the police were too aggressive in their approach, both verbally and by subjecting him to a frisking? Would it have been different if it was a white person? Would the neighbor even have made the call if it was a white person they spotted out their window (we'll never know the answer to that, but one can't help but wonder).

Tom Brady on his friendship with Trump: "Why does everybody make such a big deal?"

The New England QB and four-time Super Bowl winner spoke to a Boston radio station yesterday about him and Drumpf being pals:

“I have called him, yes, in the past. Sometimes he calls me. Sometimes I call,” Brady said. “But, again, that’s been someone I’ve known. I always try to keep it in context because for 16 years you know someone before maybe he was in the position that he was in. He’s been very supportive of me for a long time. It’s just a friendship. I have a lot of friends. I call a lot of people.”

“Why does everybody make such a big deal? I don’t understand it,” he said. “I don’t want to get into it, but if you know someone it doesn’t mean you agree with everything they say or they do. You have a lot of friends in your life. I think there are things that are based in your own dealings with someone that is a personal dealing, not a public dealing. Because you have personal experiences.”

And then Gish Gallop came out and said: Trump is ‘grateful’ for Tom Brady’s loyalty

Are people being too judgmental against Brady???

Should teachers be able to forcefully restrain violent students or those damaging school property?

Educators in Nebraska may get legislative support to do just that. This may be helpful in some instances, but may be abused by hotheaded teachers (who only constitute a small minority) in others. This is the part that gives me pause: "In addition, the bill would bar any type of legal action or administrative discipline against teachers using physical means to deal with students."

Legislative Bill 595 would allow teachers or administrators to use physical force or physical restraint to subdue violent students. Teachers or administrators could use physical restraint on students who are damaging school property.

Neither action would be considered corporal punishment under the bill. Current state law prohibits corporal punishment in Nebraska schools.

In addition, the bill would bar any type of legal action or administrative discipline against teachers using physical means to deal with students.

LB 595 would make clear that teachers can remove from their classrooms students who have been repeatedly or seriously unruly, disruptive or abusive. Under the bill, school principals could not return the student to class without the teacher’s consent.

RIP Yordano Ventura

The Royals' 25-year-old pitcher perishes in a car crash in the Dominican Republic.

Ventura spent four seasons with the Royals as a starting pitcher, going 38-31 in his career with a 3.89 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 470 strikeouts. He also started nine games in the postseason for the Royals between 2014 and 2015, which included the team's World Series championship in 2015.

How many people do you have on "ignore"?

Just wondering how much you make use of the DU ignore function, if at all?

At what point do you pull the trigger?

I have six people on ignore. Some of them I bumped into in multiple threads and they were offensive/ignorant enough that I was turned off. I debated a few of them to confirm my feelings. Got nowhere.

I haven't "alerted" any posts as of yet, however.
