What I found very interesting was their last couple of paragraphs:
"He was someone who made frequent extreme comments in social media denigrating refugees and feminism," he told the Globe and Mail. "It wasn't outright hate, rather part of this new nationalist conservative identity movement that is more intolerant than hateful."
Archives of Bissonnette's now-removed Facebook page show he "liked" Le Pen, Trump, the Israel Defense Forces and Richard Dawkins, among many interests.
That last line shows exactly where his sympathies lay. No wonder the attack coincided with the Muslim ban.
Trump sued after Iraqis detained at airport
Source: Politico
President Donald Trump and his new administration are facing legal challenges after two Iraqis with valid visas to enter the United States were detained at a New York airport, following his sweeping executive order that bars citizens from several Muslim-majority nations from entering the country.
Lawyers for the International Refugee Assistance Project and the National Immigration Law Center filed a lawsuit early Saturday in federal court seeking to release Hameed Khalid Darweesh and Haider Sameer Abdulkhaleq Alshawi, who are being held at John F. Kennedy Airport.
Customs and Border Protection agents who detained the men at JFK are pointing to Trumps executive order, telling the immigrants attorneys: Mr. President. Call Mr. Trump, according to the 20-page lawsuit. which was also filed by the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization at Yale Law School and the American Civil Liberties Union.

Refugees Detained at U.S. Airports; Trump Immigration Order Is Challenged
Source: NYT
President Trumps executive order closing the nations borders to refugees was put into immediate effect on Friday night. Refugees who were airborne on flights on the way to the United States when the order was signed were stopped and detained at airports.
The detentions prompted legal challenges as lawyers representing two Iraqis held at Kennedy Airport filed a writ of habeas corpus early Saturday in the Eastern District of New York seeking to have their clients released. At the same time, they filed a motion for class certification, in an effort to represent all refugees and immigrants who they said were being unlawfully detained at ports of entry.
Mr. Trumps order, which suspends entry for all refugees for 120 days, created a legal limbo for people on their way to the United States and panic for families who were awaiting their arrival.
The presidents order also blocks the admission of refugees from Syria indefinitely, and bars entry into the United States for 90 days from seven predominantly Muslim countries linked to concerns about terrorism. Those countries are Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

Trump signs executive action to keep out 'radical Islamic terrorists'
Source: CNN
CNN)President Donald Trump signed two executive actions Friday at the Department of Defense, including one limiting the flow of refugees into the United States by instituting what the President has called "extreme vetting" of immigrants.
Titled "Protection Of The Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into The United States," the executive order would start to make good on Trump's promise to tighten borders and halt certain refugees from entering the United States.
"I am establishing new vetting measures to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States of America," Trump said during the signing at the Pentagon after the swearing-in of Defense Secretary James Mattis. "We don't want them here."

FYI: Xanax is dangerously addictive
I'm putting this out there because I know a lot of people are starting to take meds for anxiety.
My wife was put on Xanax and not told how addictive it was. She started out by taking half a pill at night. That soon became a whole pill at night. Within a couple of months, she was downing four, five, even six pills at a time. All this was under "doctor's" orders. Xanax should be illegal. It causes an addiction that builds rapidly. If you don't feed the addiction, your anxiety level goes through the roof.
Please, if you are thinking about taking Xanax or were prescribed Xanax, do some research into its addictive nature. Knowing you are addicted is terrifying, and withdrawl is a horrible experience.

What is the deal with Spice boy's feud with Dippin Dots? Does this mean we must come up with a new name for him?

My Parents Hid Me from Reagan
During Reagan's term in office, my parents and I lived overseas. We had nothing to fear when we were at home on an American compound, but we frequently took trips to other countries. As a precursor to one of these trips, my parents warned me not to let anyone know I was American because they were worried the rest of the world viewed Reagan (and all Americans by extension) as arrogant bullies. They made me promise that if anyone asked where we were from, I would tell them we were Canadian. That was playing it safe.
This memory just popped into my mind a couple of days ago. I think it puts being American in perspective when a person is traveling or living abroad. I know that the rest of the world joined the protests on Saturday, but you still have to wonder what the average person in a foreign country really thinks about us.
