Both are US House members from Trump leaning swing districts. Slotkin is an excellent fundraiser and won the 2022 US House Election in MI-7 by a 5.4 percent margin. James won the 2022 US House Election in MI-10 by a .5 percent margin.

Stabenow got elected to the MI-8 US House seat in 1996, re-elected in 1998.

Alsobrooks will be the 1st black female US Senator from MD. She is not a member of Congress unlike Raskin,Sarbanes,and Trone. Raskin will remain in the US House to become chairman of the US House Oversight and Reform Committee if Democrats regain control of the US House of Representatives. Sarbanes and Trone are too establishment.

Gilchrist will be the 1st black US Senator from MI.
Gilchrist was a community organizer for progressive organizations such as Community Change and Moveon.org before he became Lt. Governor and Vice Chair of the 2020 Democratic National Convention while he was Lt Governor.
Gilchrist will easily win the November General Election if he avoids most of the mistakes Mandela Barnes made in the 2022 WI US Senate Race. Barnes- a black Lt Governor running for US Senator lost by a 1 percent margin against a 2 term Republican incumbent in a state that is less Democratic than MI.
I want Gilchrist because I like to see him get elected to a statewide elected office on his own.
I like to see John James run on the Republican side. James will have to give up his US House seat in MI-10th CD. If James decides not to seek re-election to his 10th Congressional District US House seat, MI-10 will go Democratic if Andy Levin or Carl Marlinga run.
The Garlin Gilchrist vs John James race will be more exciting than the Raphael Warnock vs Hershel Walker race.

Smith is currently the longest serving member of the US House of Representative.
He is conservative but not controversial. He is conservative on abortion and gay rights but progressive on immigration and gun control.
