The View from the Tenderloin

The View from the Tenderloin

Everyday, every way I can think of, on platforms social and news, I do what I can to raise people awareness on the upcoming general election. Why, I ask myself, do I do it. I'm sure a few of you ask the same thing, I know people get tired of hearing it. This nation has so much potential, it shines through, waiting. If we get the right team in place, magic will happen. It is desperately important that we do this, there are people dying of plague, of racism, and there is fear and rage in the streets. And I can never forget the pictures of children in cages, at the mercy of people with the morals of prison camp guards, God help them.

If we lose, if enough people decide to sit this one out like they did the last one, the type of regime that will be cemented in place will be incredibly difficult to dislodge, and our descendants will suffer. They will not thank us.
We must brace ourselves to our duty, as Mr. Churchill once said, in another desperate time.

The View from the Tenderloin

There is too much going on at once, so I'm gonna keep this local. My planter box occupies a good part of my day, and thoughts. I realized today that I've been looking at it as a piece of art. Everyday, when I go down to putz around, I do some thinning. I call it thinning, but it's actually sculpting. Over the course of days, the piece is evolving. As the flowers start to pop from the Cosmos, Stalk plants, Carpet of Snow, Snap Dragons etc. that process will only accelerate. It's magic, and therapy all rolled into one. It's priceless.

I'm going to talk a bit about the fires in wine country, as that too, alas, is local. The air here in SF is toxic, and as much as I love being outside, it's not a good idea. Healdsburg is being evacuated as we speak, and to me, that is unimaginable. God help them.

An oportunity for Gov. Newsom

Biden's pick for V.P. means the Governor of California will be able to pick her replacement in the Senate. I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that he will pick himself.

Watching the news, and talking with my caregiver this morning got me to thinking. The "riots/demonstrations" dominate much of the coverage. The anger and outrage that is generated by all this tends to block clear thinking. How do we fix this?
The plague. That has to come first, as inconvenient as that fact is, there is no way around it. Once that is under control, one way or the other I guess, the answer is simple.

Put people back to work. Everyone knows that, both parties are aware, hell, even Hitler knew that. Millions of jobs are gone, and those that do come back will come back slowly. The Biden administration, God willing, can put people to work doing infrastructure and generally fixing the disaster left by the Trump criminal enterprise. Working people don't have much energy for demonstrations or anything else.
