The Mueller investigation will yield precisely the results you predict. The escalating and polarizing vitriol surrounding Tump (and what he represents in our collective social psyche) will lead us to civil war. Culturally and intellectually the rift already exists, has existed in its current form for several generations, and everything I've observed in pop culture and politics for the last couple decades only confirms and reinforces this quickening. The rise of Trump is the tipping point of our age. It will end bloodily and badly, I'm afraid.

I won't add my personal speculations as to WHY so many of our leaders continue to coddle Trump, but as John Kelly's performance amply demonstrated, they have no intention of checking his insanity or removing him from office.

Taking the step away from social media is one of the healthiest things one can do for themselves in the modern world. One of the great dysfunctions at the core of humanities ills is the degree of abstraction we have achieved from the organic fact of our being. The more technology has created comfort and convenience over the centuries, the more we have allowed ourselves to indulge in the fantasy that we are somehow separated from the fate of the rest of life on earth. It is our technical achievements and acumen that fosters the widespread, simpleminded delusion that we are somehow removed from the animal kingdom. In the last few decades, digital communications and interactions have usurped "analog" organic ones. Remember when you went to a bar and people spoke to each other in community? (As depicted in the classic sitcom Cheers)..before we plastered screens on every wall and supplied a personal device in every hand? Remember what it was like to experience something rather than catalogue and post it?
Social media (and to various degrees forums such as this, video games, online dating, and teleconferencing, etc...) in the form of "profiles" allows us to live vicariously through our imagination of ourselves, and project that brand to others for validation, thereby reinforcing any exaggeration or dishonesty we incorporated in our initial quest for communal acceptance and validation. The result is an ever-escalating cycle of posturing, sycophantic nonsense that perverts all sides and creates a bewildering maze of subjective fictions and reality.
Removing oneself from the compulsive cultural paradigm is the only way to break free from its spell and discern a healthy path forward. Perhaps you won't always need to avoid it completely, perhaps you will. Either way, I applaude your self-awarness and decisiveness. Unplug and unwind!
You are asking a multi-disciplinary question about a multiverse of possibilities...
The logical answer to the query at the heart (I think) of what you're pondering is: Yes, evolution was destined to lead to us because it has led to us. It is what it is, and nothing else. However, that is ignoring an absolute deluge of questions and oversights in your premise. The fact is, even though it was destined (in hindsight ONLY) to lead to us, it COULD have led to an infinite multitude of different ends had ANY of the variables involved over the vast scale of geological time that has elapsed on this planet been any different. Geologic upheaval, celestial impacts, ice ages, mass extinctions... these vast and violent intruiges to the historic course of the evolution of life on earth are hardly precision events. Yet, over the vastness of time, the precise conditions they precipitated have created very specific parameters for the evolution of organic life here to explore.
The larger problem that I see is that you are presupposing a universe where a literal Judeo-Christian god exists in harmony with the mechanics of Darwinian evolution by natural selection. That in and of itself is a bit of a paradox from the outset, as evolution by natural selection is a profound organic process that would be usurped and undefined by any form of supernatural input or contengency. Creationism has no place in serious evolutionary thought. The only place you may find purchase for your seed of deistic hope would be in the yet to be fully understood mechanism by which chemistry became biology. Molecular biologist have yet to solve that particular ancient puzzle, so I suppose one might imagine that a god breathed that initial "spark" into the primordial ooze... But such a singular and ancient an act of creation is hardly worthy of the prosaic genesis required to believe in any form of Abrahamic gospel... and if you can't believe some of it, why should you trust any of it?

Any respectable and self responsible populace would have had him publicly disembowled by now.... We should have stormed the castle after Citizens United!!!!... We should have demanded justice in blood after the velvet gloves that "prosecuted" the Great Recession.
We are a lazy, spoiled, and apathetic mess. This could not have happened without our progressive, passive consent for generations. Progressivism has neutered itself with its own intentions. We've killed true intellectual fortitude with our obsessive exactness and compartmentalization; conditioned as we've become to our excellence...

BE PREPARED TO SEE A MASSIVE TERRORIST ATTACK IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE
For those of you who have followed the posts that myself, GliderGuider, and AlexSFCA have posted in recent weeks, I want to make an observation and a prediction...
The current war between the IC and Trump's administration is nothing short of a stage setting for a massive terrorist attack that will pave the way for the American people to rally behind Trump out of fear... Just like after 9-11. The attack will be blamed on the dysfunction and communication breakdown between the IC and Trump. We will be asked and expected to put all other issues aside and follow in lockstep an administration that will make overt shows of "strength". Those of us who cry "foul!" will be derided and blamed for the dynamic that will be blamed for the attack. We are on the cusp of an overt police state. We are on the cusp of an event that will likely make 9-11 seem small by comparison.
The entire country is being gaslighted. Each side is rabidly beating the drum of their insulated perspective, with the acceptance of the respective platforms being held as a litmus test within the ranks of each side. We are ALL being played.
Be prepared. We are under attack intellectually, and the battle is about to turn physically violent.
Mark my words... It is coming.
I have personal responsibilities that will keep me busy for the rest of the day, so I won't be able to respond to questions until later this evening, but I wanted to go ahead and put this out there so it is on the record for when something happens.

As usual, you are absolutely correct. While this first stage of the global war is being fought in the hearts and minds of the people, the inevitable result of all those social wedge issues is to turn us against each other in sectarian violence...this has been a long and constant process over the last century that Putin and the current global financial elite are the inheritors of. You are also correct about the "threat" of jihadist terror only becoming a (perceived) pervasive antagonist since the first World Trade Center bombing, but in earnest after 9-11.

The amount of attention paid to Islamism over the last decade and a half has had a catalytic effect on both our perception of its pervasiveness, as well as its actual growth and proliferation. The more we've been outraged against them, the more they rage and recruit against us. It is my feeling that the moneyed interests that support a given administration (this applies to any and all regimes over the last 100 years) have been working behind the scenes for many decades to achieve the ends we are now in the midst of. Putin seems to be the head of the snake in our day. I have not referenced it in my OP or other posts, but there is ample evidence that Putin has used his position to personally enrich himself, and is actually worth over double what Bill Gates (commonly held to be the wealthiest person alive) is, making Vladimir Putin the richest man in the world, and therefore an intuitive choice to lead the global financial elite. And I think there is good reason to hope that Greg is correct. At the time that Comey's now infamous letter to congress was released, he (Comey) may have still been grappling with all this and still assimilating information. He may not have known the extent of the breach, and may have assumed, like the rest of us, that Clinton would cruise to victory regardless of his actions. Conversely, he may have been fully aware of what he was doing to Clinton, but out of his own altruistic view of his responsibilities, chosen to follow "procedure" anyway. It may be that he saw the election results as secondary to the realization that this country is unknowingly at war, and considered his duty to safeguard our democracy as paramount to any implications his actions would have on the election. If indeed the theory about Comey and the FBI is correct, then this is the most important law enforcement case of all time, and getting it right before making a move would indeed be more important than the temporary results of the election. The Russian infiltration of the West is so grave, that his calculus may be much broader than the narrow view of the immediacy of this latest election.
I suppose we'll see... The more time that passes, the more skeptical I become. If there is this much information available to the public, one can only imagine the cascading deluge of information the intelligence agencies and law enforcement communities must be corroborating and sourcing. However, as we the people know enough to paint the rough picture I described above, one would think those in the know must be near to sewing the matter up and making their move. I feel if we don't see action on this in the next few weeks, it will be a sign that the investigation is somehow stalled or compromised, and it will be torches and pitchforks time if we hope to prevail.
The question of agency or authority to prosecute this vast swamp is tricky...
...and will depend of the bilateral support of both political parties. My thinking is that the Republicans will be long in their support of Trump, albeit with a great deal of distaste; they simply won't want to give up any of their power. The stakes of this game are much larger than either party, though, and I remain hopeful that once more of the story becomes public, we will rally behind each other as fellow countrymen. That said, if done within the crumbling confines of our current democracy, the FBI would have the authority to formally charge the players involved, all the way to the POTUS. However, with each passing moment, the new administration is cementing and entrenching its power, and eliminating dissenting voices. I feel like there is likely an event horizon of opportunity for our law enforcement agencies to openly pursue and prosecute this. Eventually, the tendency to acquiesce to power will take hold, and we will have to count on a hunted and secret alliance within our law enforcement agencies to continue the investigation outside of the orders of the administration.
Thanks for the compliment. I didn't do much but make some commentary, pose some questions, and link to the much better and studious work of real journalist or websites. I will, however, take your compliment for making the effort to tie all the various threads together into one theory that we can (AND MUST!) discuss here and elsewhere. My only real intent here is to keep raising awareness and beating the drum to hopefully wake some others up to join the resistance in full.
Glad you're here to lend your voice and support, though, as you're one of very few people on here that is fully clued in to what is going down.
