Thanks to the wonderful people here who are helping an injured rat get better!
Last ditch effort, I decided to ask for help here at DU to get an injured rat some needed surgery. You guys came through! I'm hafway to the goal. Her surgery is scheduled for Wed, Aug 31st. Send her some love and wish us luck.

I posted the following on Facebook. The response has been underwhelming:
"So this rat was living under the deck of a nearby restaurant that had closed after the pandemic. She was obviously a domestic pet rat that escaped or was let go. She had lived there for over a year and a half. She survived two winters, multiple traps and a visit from the Orkin man. She also survived an animal attack but was left with a bad eye injury. Now that the restaurant is open, she could not stay. She also would certainly not survive another winter, so I took her in. I have all ready spent a ridiculous amount of money just to give her a good home. Now she needs surgery to remove her eye. Apparently, it's not all that rare an operation for pet rodents. But it is not cheap. She is well habitated to me. She knows her name and comes when I call her. She is a survivor and she deserves to live out a good life like any pet. I am asking anyone that can to donate to the gofundme fundraiser page I have set up. If you can't donate, then at least, please, share this post. Thanks."
I got a few thumbs up, several raspberry emoji and a couple shares. I got one $5 donation.
I am a retiree as of today! I am now "living on a fixed income" so I could use all the help I can get. I'm asking the DU community to show that rats, too, are worthy of compassion.

Is it just me, or does anyone else believe this whole path by the SCROTUS 6
was planned out, discussed and initiated by them long before the last three were put on the court?
Why do so many Republican policies and ideas lead to more people dying?
And it runs through the full spectrum of governance. Vaccines, guns, abortion, immigration...They have nothing to do with each other, but the Republican answer always leads to more death.
