Goodheart's JournalWhy did Garland allow this political hit piece to be released?
I'm disgusted.
There is no reason to believe that Robert Hur is anything other than MAGAt... having been appointed by donald trump as US attorney after trump had dismissed so many US attorneys because he suspected they were not.
And every single day that passes when trump is not in court only adds to the disgust. MOST of these crimes should have been tried at least a year ago. And now we're facing the very real possibility that an orange piece of shit will return to the White House.
I'm proud to be a "none"
I'm not particularly proud to be an American... that was just an accident of birth. And I'm certainly not proud to be white... I can't be proud of something I had no control over.
But I am 100% proud to be a "none". You see, I was born into a Catholic family, baptized, forced into Catechism and church every Sunday, forced to listen to sermons in both English and Latin. It would have been very easy to just accept all that as truth.
But I didn't. I overcame. I investigated. I thought. I decided. I'm a "none".
Can I now be talked into turning back into a "something"? Talked? Probably not. Shown? Sure... show me something convincing. Show me a sign. God, write across the sky in letters that science can't explain: "I exist." Or pay me a visit. Why haven't you done that if you're so important?
In the meantime, I'm a "none". Have been for 60 years.

Wheeeeee.... I almost forgot.... we're still waiting on Judge Engoron!
I expect his verdict is going to be even worse news for the shitstain.
I don't think 51% for the incumbent is anything to crow about.
I'm encouraged that a lot of republicans will not have sufficient enthusiasm to vote in the general election.
Yes or no, Virginia
Is lying to your youngsters that Santa Claus flies around the world delivering toys to good children a net positive or net negative?
My own opinion, as if you'll care, is that it's a generally good thing... but not for a reason you'd expect.
I don't think lying is good, and there are so many other ways that children could be helped to enjoy the holiday. What I do like about this particular practice is that when a child learns the truth of the matter he's been taught a valuable lesson... the value of skepticism.
This site is not working properly with the Microsoft Edge browser
At least not for me. Microsoft Edge version 120.0.2210.61 (as of this date their latest greatest).
I'm typing this post from Firefox. Works fine in Google Chrome, also.
But in Edge all I'm getting is unformatted text links.
Anybody else having the same problem?
Respect to Norman Lear... gone at 101... he was a society changer
I should know. I'm old enough to have witnessed Archie and Meathead and Maude and George and Weezy.
Now while I never saw anything redeeming about Archie Bunker, and I thought Edith was terribly written albeit well acted, I absolutely adored Maude.
So, Norman, I would love you for Maude alone, but you gave us so much more than that!
Just For Laughs - Gags
With my new TV purchase came something called "Samsung TV", which is a pretty good service of many free channels, including one named Just For Laughs - Gags.
I mean, what in the world? A lot of these gags are pretty clever, and most of them rely on shocking and startling some innocent passerby. It looks like all of these were filmed in Ontario or Quebec.
So, I'm left wondering... are Canadian laws that much more liberal than ours in the USA? I assume that here in the USA the producers and actors would get sued CONSTANTLY for startling and downright terrifying some people, even when they don't get physically hurt.

So, a MAGA acquaintance of mine says that on the first day of trump's trial
the judge threw out 80% of the case against him?
What did I miss?
The Medicare prescription drug donut hole: anybody have any history on it?
Apparently my insurance provider has already covered $4000 of my year to date drug costs, so now I'll have to pay 25% of the drug manufacturers' retail prices for the rest of the year, until I spend $2000 or so on my own, at which time I'll reach the "catastrophic" level where I'll only have to pay 5%. This, by the way, is not the insurance company's rulebook, but Medicare law.
Yes, it's a bit confusing. And it's so bizarre that I'm left to wonder: WHAT THE FUCK?
What's the history behind this magic formula that I'm sure hits tens of thousands of seniors every year with a WHAT THE FUCK moment? What brilliant congressmen sat down and decided "hey, we'll insist that Medicare cover $4000 but after that we'll cover 75% but then after another $2000 we'll cover 95% ?" Were they just showing off at how arcane they could get?
