Steve Bannon is trying to change the face of the European Parliament - and we say bring it on

The author Sophie in 't Veld, is a Dutch politician

Recently, the former Trump advisor and alt-right preacher Steve Bannon announced he will be campaigning for right wing nationalists across Europe, aiming to win a third of seats in the European Parliament at next year's European elections.

Well Steve, bring it on! We happily accept the challenge! In May 2019 at the ballot box, Europeans will face a clear choice about what kind of Europe they want to live in. A return to Europe's dark nationalist past, or a more unified, tolerant and democratic union of nations. My bet is Europeans will overwhelmingly show Bannon that we stand tall for our way of life and our values.

Steven Bannon and his European allies, like the governing Polish PiS government party, France's far-right leader Marine Le Pen, Viktor Orban, Nigel Farage, Geert Wilders as well as Dutch Christen Unie/SGP, want to pit European people against each other and sow the seeds of division in our societies. But more than that, they aim to dismantle all progress we have achieved.

In their joint political agenda, set out in the manifesto “Restoring the Natural Order”, they reject modern values like gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, womens’ right to decide over their own bodies, stem cell research, freedom of religion and conscience, secularism, open and diverse societies, and more. In other words: they seek to turn back the clock. Women at the kitchen sink, gay people put back in the closet, the church ruling our private lives and middle aged white males holding all power.

Eric Trump Mocked for Celebrating Poll Finding That Majority of Americans Disapprove of His Dad

Could it be any stupider?

M

ore than half of registered voters disapprove of President Donald Trump, a number that had Eric Trump oddly celebrating.

According to a new NBC/WSJ poll, the president's job approval rating rose to 45 percent. But his overall approval rating still ranks among the lowest of any modern president 17 months into his first term, with 52 percent disapproving of Trump's job performance.

Eric Trump tweeted a link to the published poll early Tuesday morning, along with a series of American flag emojis, seemingly touting his father's disapproval rating.

Twitter users were quick to fire back at Eric Trump's approval of the poll, mocking his celebration of the fact that more than half of those surveyed disapprove of the job his father has done in the White House.

There is still hope. My local newspaper mentions Florida's police officer nice act

Translated story:

The man had the opportunity to get a job if he shaved his beard.

The act of kindness of a police officer in Tallahassee, Florida, USA, moved the web. Filmed Sunday by a passer-by, Tony Carlson helped a homeless man shave before he went to a job interview.

At a press conference, the officer told how he approached a man who was having trouble with a lawnmower outside a gas station. “He asked me if I knew how to fix a lawn mower because it was broken. I looked at it and it was missing a screw. Clearly, I didn't have any with me, so I just tightened the other screw to make it work”.

The homeless man, named Phil, then tried to shave his beard alone. But without a mirror, the task proved to be very complicated. Officer Carlson then began shaving his beard to help him.

Phil explained that he was offered the opportunity to work in a McDonald's facility on the condition that he shave his beard. “He was so excited... There was a chance he could get a job if he just cleaned his face”, the officer said.

Contacted by the local newspaper Tallahassee Democrat, the fast-food chain assured that Phil would get a place in one of its restaurants provided he could provide ID.

How a Trump Decision Revealed a G.O.P. Memo's Shaky Foundation

President Trump claimed vindication in a series of tweets even though newly released documents undermined Republicans’ claims in a dispute over the wiretapping of a Trump campaign aide.CreditAl Drago for The New York Times

WASHINGTON — When President Trump declassified a memo by House Republicans in February that portrayed the surveillance of a former campaign adviser as scandalous, his motivation was clear: to give congressional allies and conservative commentators another avenue to paint the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian election interference as tainted from the start.

But this past weekend, Mr. Trump’s unprecedented decision, which he made over the objections of law enforcement and intelligence officials, had a consequence that revealed his gambit’s shaky foundation. The government released the court documents in which the F.B.I. made its case for conducting the surveillance — records that plainly demonstrated that key elements of Republicans’ claims about the bureau’s actions were misleading or false.

[The release offered a rare glimpse of national security wiretap files and raised echoes of a political fight.]

On Sunday, Mr. Trump nevertheless sought to declare victory. In a series of early-morning tweets, he claimed without evidence that the newly disclosed files “confirm with little doubt that the Department of ‘Justice’ and FBI misled the courts” to win approval to start wiretapping the former adviser, Carter Page, shortly after he had left the campaign amid criticism of his ties to Russia.

“Looking more & more like the Trump Campaign for President was illegally being spied upon (surveillance) for the political gain of Crooked Hillary Clinton and the DNC,” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter, referring to the Democratic National Committee.

Mr. Trump’s portrayal, which came as the administration is trying to repair the damage from his widely criticized meeting with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, revived the claims put forward in February by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee. But in respect after respect, the newly disclosed documents instead corroborated rebuttals by Democrats on the panel who had seen the top-secret materials and accused Republicans of mischaracterizing them to protect the president.

Massachusetts Democrat dupes Fox and Friends 😂😂

The network thought it had booked Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick, a former Arizona congresswoman running for another stint in Congress. The bookers had instead lined up state Sen. Barbara L’Italien, a Democrat running in a crowded open congressional race in Massachusetts. | POLITICO screengrab

A Massachusetts congressional candidate pulled a bait-and-switch on a Fox News talk show Monday morning, using the president's preferred morning show as a platform to blast his administration’s policy of immigrant family separations.
