Is there a Pets forum on DU?

I could have sworn that there was, but I can't find it.

Who's your favorite (current) Supreme Court Justice now?

We all had our favorite, and I'm sure 99% of us would have said it's RBG if polled last month. So who's your favorite now? Sotomayor is clearly the most liberal on the Court now, followed by Breyer and then Kagan.

Trump nominates Amy Coney Barrett as Supreme Court justice

Source: CNN

(CNN)President Donald Trump on Saturday said he is nominating Amy Coney Barrett, a conservative federal appeals court judge, to succeed the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the US Supreme Court, setting off a fierce partisan battle in the waning days of a hotly contested presidential election.

Calling it a "very proud moment indeed," Trump called Barrett a woman of "towering intellect" and "unyielding loyalty to the Constitution" who would rule "based solely on the fair reading of the law."

In a flag-bedecked Rose Garden designed to mimic Ginsburg's own nomination ceremony in 1993, Trump recounted Barrett's educational and professional background, noted her seven children and hailed her ties to another late Supreme Court justice, Antonin Scalia, for whom she clerked.

"I looked and I studied and you are very eminently qualified for this job," Trump told his nominee. "You are going to be fantastic."

Senate Judiciary Democrat says he'll meet with Trump's SCOTUS pick

Source: CNN

Sen. Dick Durbin, the Democratic whip and a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told CNN's Michael Smerconish that he plans to meet with and attend the confirmation hearing for President Trump's Supreme Court pick.

Several Democrats told CNN this week they won’t bother meeting with the nominee now over their concerns with the expedited process in the Senate.

Durbin told Smerconish, "I can only speak for myself," and noted that he's spoken to every past nominee to the high court because he thinks it is "not only respectful, but it's important."

"I plan on establishing some sort of contact, safe contact for both the nominee, myself and my staff in a courtesy manner," Durbin said, adding that he also plans on attending the nominee's hearing.

What if Trump wins but we take the Senate? Shouldn't the new Senate vote on a nominee to the SC?

While at least one or two Republicans have said who's ever elected President should nominate a SC pick, no one is talking about the new Senate voting on a nominee. Seriously, if we take the Senate but Trump wins (entirely possible), those Republicans who said the new President should nominate someone will just vote for Trump's pick if he wins, and it wouldn't even be a broken promise.

We must not only get Republicans to pledge that that next President get's to choose, but also that the next Senate gets to vote.

Three Quinnipiac Senate polls out yesterday featuring Republican incumbents

Kentucky Senate - McConnell vs. McGrath: McConnell 53, McGrath 41

Maine Senate - Collins vs. Gideon: Gideon 54, Collins 42

South Carolina Senate - Graham vs. Harrison: Graham 48, Harrison 48

https://poll.qu.edu/kentucky/release-detail?ReleaseID=3673

So here's my take. Collins is done. There's no way she's going to come back from being 12 points behind. Seems like Mitch will win too, he's up by 12. As for SC, it's an exact tie. I'd still put it as leaning Graham because Trump is up in that state. I just don't see Republicans voting for Trump and then voting for Harrison. None of them are staying home either.

Am I the only one that says teeter totter and not seesaw?

Whenever I say teeter totter, it brings a smile to all of my friend's faces. It's certainly not an age thing, as I'm in my 40's. I'm also born and raised in NYC, if that matters.

I dunno, to me it just sounds so much better than seesaw.

CNBC's Jim Cramer calls Pelosi 'Crazy Nancy' to her face in live interview

Source: MSN

CNBC host Jim Cramer addressed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as “Crazy Nancy” during a TV interview Tuesday morning, then sent several tweets in which he defended his actions and claimed he was being treated unfairly for using the phrase, which is also employed frequently by President Trump.

Pelosi (D-Calif.) was on CNBC on Tuesday morning to discuss the negotiations over a new round of coronavirus relief legislation. At one point in the interview, Cramer questioned Pelosi about a CNN interview days earlier in which she had said she was optimistic about the likelihood of a deal as talks between Trump administration officials and congressional Democrats remain stalled.

“Really?” Cramer said. “I mean, I thought I’d take it right off the table right this very minute. You’ve got [White House Chief of Staff] Mark Meadow[s] going and saying he was the skunk at the party. He didn’t really — you know, he’s gotten in the way between you and, I think, [Treasury] Secretary [Steven] Mnuchin. I mean, what deal can we have, Crazy Nancy?”

He then quickly added: “I’m sorry, I — that was the president. I have such reverence for the office, I would never use that term.” “But you just did,” Pelosi said with a laugh. “But you just did.”

Does anyone in NY on unemployment have their $300 payments pending?

I claimed yesterday, like I do every Sunday. Today I checked, and the only payment pending is my normal weekly unemployment from NY. I don't see any of the $300 payments pending. We were promised three. How about anyone else?
