The biggest difference between left and right?

I think I have figured it out. The biggest difference between left and right is not about policy. It is not about positions on GAY RIGHTS, the WAR ON WOMEN, the BIG SOCIETY, RACE and RACISM, UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE, CREATIONISM, RELIGION, EVOLUTION, CLIMATE CHANGE, GUN CONTROL or FOX NEWS v NBC. Etc etc

Nope, nothing to do with those things at all. Political beliefs are all about your state of mind and it occurred to me after years of pottering about on the interwebs and watching multitudes of conservatives twist their panties in wads of not so righteous indignation at just about everything, that I really now know the difference between the left and the right…..

DRUM ROLL PLEASE

Conservatives DO NOT have a sense of HUMOUR. At least not one I have any hope of understanding. I wonder if that is why there are so few conservative comedians? Maybe it is because they have sold their souls to the devil, that they look like they are sucking on a lemon ALL THE TIME? Maybe they like being cross as a state of mind? Who knows, but I do know it is a very rare thing to see them crack a funny that is actually funny.

Heh

That's #Brexit.

Imagine two posh people who hate each other standing in the doorway of a collapsing building going ‘After you’ ‘no, after you’, while 66 million people are trapped inside waiting for them to stop dicking about.
That, but a bit more racist. That’s #Brexit.

Good as definition as any, I say!

'Be careful, Nancy': Trump threatens to deport 11 million immigrants unless 'irrational' Pelosi.....

.....approves wall

President Donald Trump launched a furious attack at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Sunday morning in a series of tweets filled with threats and invective.

Taking to Twitter, the president began: “No, Amnesty is not a part of my offer. It is a 3 year extension of DACA. Amnesty will be used only on a much bigger deal, whether on immigration or something else. Likewise there will be no big push to remove the 11,000,000 plus people who are here illegally-but be careful Nancy!”

How has faith or lack thereof in childhood shaped your faith or lack thereof as an adult?

Common wisdom would suggest that if you are raised in a religious household, you are more likely to have some sort of faith as you reach adulthood and if you are raised in a non-religious household faith would seem less relevant. However, I meet many people who were raised in strict religious households who after much contemplation moved away from the faith of their forefathers as adults. I also meet many adults who have been raised within their faith and stay in it all their lives.

Have you been raised in a strict religious environment but moved away from that faith as an adult? Or are you someone with a strong faith who came to your faith as an adult? Or is it more likely that it is the faith of your parents, something that you carried over from childhood, a family tradition as it were?

For me. I grew up in a very strict religious right family. I have not set foot inside this church in 30 years, other than for my father’s funeral.

Do you have faith because you are supposed to? Or because you want to? Do you have a lack of faith because you are supposed to? Or because you want to?

How does faith define you?

They fart and we all smell the stink

While I can recognise that some Americans care not a jot for what goes on in the rest of the world, I think this part of the American psyche is flawed. Isolationism, or even just an unwillingness to understand America’s impact on the wider world, cannot be a good plan in an ever-evolving global economy and on such an interconnected planet. The global scene has changed dramatically since the inception of America and Trump attempting to pull up the drawbridge and ignore the peasants (i.e the rest of the world) at the foot of the moat is not a realistic option in the 21st century, not least because there are no castles anymore! Since the end of the Second World War the world has seen an increasingly globalised market place and an ever-expanding interdependence of nations, which should not be brushed off as seemingly unimportant to the largest economy in the world. Logically, if in Trumps America he and his supporters choose to ignore the international community, apart from when they want something from us, they risk hampering Americas own future economic success in an ever-expanding global economy.

America should not and cannot ignore its duty to the wider community. Contribution to the overall stability of the security of the world in terms of both economic health and wider issues of war and peace is the responsibility of America as much as, if not more so, than other nation states. As we all march further and further down the road to populist leaders juxtaposed with globalised inter connectivity Trumps America not giving a shit about what the rest of us think is somewhat foolhardy. It may be that America is all that matters to some Americans however while America continues to fart in the lift of global economic and social structures and while we can smell the stink across the international community, not giving a shit about anything happening outside your borders is not a very grand plan. Equally, on the flip side, when America sprays air freshener in the lift, we can also smell the fragrance of success, why on earth do they wish to ignore that?
