DOJ Position And Trump Impeachment Argument 'Cannot Be Reconciled,' House Lawyer Argues

Oh my, what a surprise, these fuckers continue to try and get away with talking out of both sides of their lying deceitful gobs...

The filing was one in a series of from Letter regarding two cases: One case seeks to force former White House counsel Don McGahn’s testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, despite an order from the President; another seeks grand jury material from the Mueller probe.

The contradiction boils down to this: In the Senate impeachment trial, Trump’s defense team has argued against the “Obstruction of Congress” charge against him by saying that the courts, not the impeachment process, are the proper venue to pursue witnesses and documentary evidence that Trump has blocked from reaching congressional investigators. In short, the evidence must be litigated in court.

But in court, in the McGahn and Mueller grand jury cases, Justice Department prosecutors have argued for months that the disputes are political — not an appropriate place for the courts to step in. In short, the evidence cannot be litigated in court.

“The Executive Branch cannot have it both ways,” the Judiciary Committee said in a statement Tuesday.

Emphasis mine

Gotta to tell you, legally and judicially, in theory they should not be able to have it both ways... not sure that is going to stop them trying their damnedest though!

They are not outraged, not outraged in the least.

These fuckers are not outraged, not outraged in the least. All the blustering, the finger jabbing, the ranting and the huffing and puffing are complete and utter nonsense. You know how they say that politics is like acting but for ugly people… folks meet the republican party. And not just rather smug and unattractive on the outside, but rotten to the core of their beings on the inside. They have a co-ordinated approach of “feigned outrage” to ram home a message of ‘they are victim’ to their poor deluded base, while they are taking the country for everything they can grab with their grubby little paws, before their time, quite rightly comes to an end.

This is what we are witness too right now. This is not ‘white male rage’, although they would have you believe it is JUST that. This shit they are pulling right now. This nasty that is impacting significantly on the mental health of the rest of us. This undermining of justice, of law, of democracy itself. This gaslighting of a nation. This example of toxic masculinity taken to the extreme. All of this is straight, 'Christian' male white privilege and everything that encompasses. Attempts by the rest of us to play fair, to want everyone to act within the law, irrespective of power and privilege, and our demands to level the playing field is denounced as oppression to those who've had every opportunity since birth. Oppression my arse.

How dare we demand that they play within the laws of the land and be impartial in their supposed service to the country? They think we are irrelevant because we are not exactly like them, and, oh, we are ‘sinners’…

Need to show those wankers in November 2020 exactly how 'irrelevant' we are. Biff. Baff. Uppercut. Boom.

Republicans can't stop talking about Obama during Trump's impeachment trial

One of the weirdest things that occurred was the Trump's team and Republicans alike, constantly bringing up the name of Barack Obama, even though the former president has absolutely nothing to do with what is going on.
---------
Things started with Pam Bondi and Eric Herschmann claiming that both Obama and Biden should be investigated for corruption, with Bondi adding that this was necessary as the charges against Trump, who had asked Ukraine to investigate Biden, were "baseless."

Herschmann then went on to read 'charges' against Obama and claimed that he had "undermined the integrity of the United States democratic process" and had engaged with a "quid pro quo" with the then president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev in 2012.
----------
Avella, who had been invited on to discuss the revelations about Trump's ties to Ukraine in John Bolton's book, bizarrely said that this trial will 'come at a cost to Democrats.'

Name another jury in America that gets to pick the process.

Senators are going to get to pick whether they witnesses or not. Let's just say this — if they do, President Obama, Andrew McCabe, the whistleblower, (Rep. Adam) Schiff, all better clear their schedules, because they ought to be asked to testify.

During the President’s defense today, we heard a lot about the process in the House, the Bidens, and even President Obama. With one day left in the defense's arguments, what we still haven't heard is a fact-based defense of the President's actions

Oh my lord...

CHICKEN KIEV...(Daily News Front Page)

Fucking genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder what he is thinking when he is absolutely trashing what may be left of his own reputation to support Trump? I mean Trump has his mindless cultists, but I don't think their adoration extends to Mitch... right? So when Trump throws him under the bus it not like he has anyone to rally round to save his turkey neck. And that day cannot come soon enough.

I think he is making a huge miscalculation.

Good oh.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, as we remember, they want the horrors be forgotten...vicious oafs.

As Elie Wiesel has said “I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” This has never been more important than it is in this period of history we are living through.

They want memories to fade, history cannot repeat itself if no-one forgets and everyone learns from it, which would be more than a little inconvenient to those who would break democracy through, in no small part, incitement of fear and hate. It is much easier to be a Nazi or a White Supremacist if you are never confronted with the complete and utter inhumanity of the holocaust, genocides since or slavery and Jim Crow.

They rely on collective amnesia and some peoples, very obvious ability, to suspend their humanity towards those they perceive as other, to do horrors beyond imagination. Last night I was watching an interview on the news with a 90 year old holocaust survivor who said she never thought that antisemitism would rise like that again... and she was wrong. In the twilight of her years she lives in a state of fear because of the state of our nations today. This is outrageous. It is unconscionable 75 years after she was freed from Auschwitz, that this is her reality. History shows us how quickly democracy can perish, by the beginning of WW2, there were only 11 democracies left on planet... but the lesson is not just how people like Hitler stole democracy, it was about how many of the citizenry actively supported it: “And it was not merely tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, but hundreds of millions of people who were the obedient witnesses of this slaughter of the innocent. Nor were they merely obedient witnesses: when ordered to, they gave their support to this slaughter, voting in favour of it amid a hubbub of voices. There was something unexpected in their degree of obedience... The extreme violence of the totalitarian social systems proved able to paralyse the human spirit throughout whole continents. Vasily Grossman

In honour of the memory of all those who died so violently and without just cause we cannot let these abhorrent leaders today to obfuscate, to lie and to talk out both sides of their gobs while half of them are trying to bring about the end times through their actions.

"The things I saw beggar description. … The visual evidence and the verbal testimony of starvation, cruelty and bestiality were so overpowering as to leave me a bit sick. In one room, where [there] were piled up 20 or 30 naked men, killed by starvation, [General] George Patton would not even enter. He said he would get sick if he did so. I made the visit deliberately, in order to be in position to give first-hand evidence of these things if ever, in the future, there develops a tendency to charge these allegations merely to 'propaganda.'" President Dwight D. Eisenhower
