I was on the train home and had the amusement of sitting next to a right wing southern gentleman of late middle age. Obviously in the UK on business he was accompanied by a middle aged chap from somewhere in the north of England and they were chatting away about some fossil fuels business when all of a sudden the American chap launched into a rant of epic right wing paranoid proportions. Hehehehehe. Little bit of heaven right there.

'Did you know that America has turned on its head? Some poor woman who had not stolen anything, or killed anyone has been IMPRISONED. IMPRISONED for her personal beliefs. Well of course my ears pricked up and I awaited with baited breath for the response from his traveling partner. Poor chap, he just looked really bewildered and said nothing. American man was not finished, not by a long shot. Interestingly this stout defender of the homophobic baggage that is Kim Davis was careful not to rant about why she was jailed. That would not sit well on a commuter train in one of the most cosmopolitan capital cities in the world. It seems his principled stand about the tyranny of government left him some wiggle room based on the community that surrounded him in that instance.

'Did you know that Obama plans to enact FOUR THOUSAND new laws between now and when he leaves office to restrict FREEDOM? In fact it is not four thousand, it is OVER FOUR THOUSAND new laws. America is not America anymore. What do you think of that?'

Oh how I was itching to reply on behalf of the English chap who was staring at him like he was an alien, but train protocol is too well ingrained in my psyche. Obama is going to be terrifically busy. Even if we take the conservative (no pun intended) estimate of FOUR THOUSAND new laws that means Obama will have to pass eight laws restricting American freedoms every single day between now and when he leaves office to meet his target. I know he is good, but surely he is not that good????? Well at least he didn't say Obama is going to steal a third term. That is something.

A gunman was taken into custody after opening fire and killing at least eight people inside Santa Fe High School this morning.

The Santa Fe Independent School District said in a Facebook post just after 9am local time that the situation has been 'contained' and 'there have been confirmed injuries.'

The station KHOU reported, citing a federal official and a county official close to the investigation that at least eight people were fatally shot and a law enforcement officer was injured.

The party of personal liberty is back to fear mongering about the “dangers” of transgender people using the toilets again.

Republican House candidate Jazmina Saavedra accused a transgender woman who was quite literally in the midst of relieving herself in a Denny’s restroom of “invading her privacy” by using the restroom that corresponds with her gender identity. To be clear, Saavedra felt that her privacy was invaded as she filmed someone else in a bathroom stall (video below).

“I’m trying to use the ladies’ room and there is a man here claiming that he is a lady,” Saavedra said in her Facebook Live video.

“You’re invading my privacy,” the transgender woman responded.

“You’re invading my privacy because I’m a woman and I deserve to use the woman, the ladies’ room,” Saavedra retorted.
