The statistics are staggering. They take your breath away. Behind every " stat" is someone's loved one. It is not my intention to make this a macabre thread. But to remind folks that there are real people behind those numbers and this is why people need to stay home. Encourage your friends and family to stay home. It is the sacrifice we must make at this time to save not only our lives, but the lives of someone's mother, daughter, son, wife, husband, daughter, best friend, lover.

Grieving family says goodbye to dying coronavirus-stricken mom via walkie talkie

A grieving family had to say goodbye to their dying mother in Washington State via walkie-talkie, as she was deemed too contagious during her losing battle with the coronavirus.
The six children of 42-year-old widow Sundee Rutter could only stare helplessly through a small window into their mother’s isolation room and speak to her via a walkie-talkie, its counterpart propped on her pillow, they told BuzzFeed News.

Sundee, who had battled stage 4 breast cancer, was stricken in early March and died about two weeks later.
“I told her I love her ... she shouldn’t worry about the kids,” Elijah Ross-Rutter, the fourth of her six children, told Buzzfeed News.

He, his five siblings and Rutter’s mother were on hand to bid farewell via the handheld radio device, BuzzFeed News said. The children range in age from 13 to 24, with the eldest about to graduate from college. He is seeking guardianship of the youngest three, who are in middle and high school, and will use the money raised by a GoFundMe account set up by a family friend to procure stable housing.

The Fox article hypes the spike in prices of fish tank cleaners containing chloroquine phosphate without clearly explaining that outside of its approved pharmaceutical form and dosage, chloroquine phosphate can be toxic and deadly -- though it does mention that it’s not for “human consumption” at the end of the third paragraph. Considering most Americans don’t read past the headline of an article, it is not only irresponsible but outright idiotic for Fox to imply such equivalence in the article title during a pandemic when people are desperate to find ways to protect themselves.

The article also stated that “President Trump announced in a press conference Thursday that chloroquine phosphate -- a substance found in drugs used to treat malaria and severe arthritis -- was cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to test as a treatment for the coronavirus.” (The FDA has not approved the drug for treatment of COVID-19.) As of this morning, the article remains live on Fox’s website, without any updates or clarifications.

It wasn't just Fox News, either. Articles like this were elsewhere in right-wing media. There was a similar article in News Corp's New York Post:

I know its been said before, but he is showing true leadership.

Right now he is talking about connecting to your family in this difficult time. He's talking about taking a walk with his daughter and dog and how much he appreciates that. He's encouraging us to use this time to do the things we have been putting off, that we enjoy such as painting the house, reading that book, journaling, etc. What a wonderful message so we are not focused on the virus and what its doing all the time. It seems like such simple suggestions, but to hear that from a politician is refreshing. He knows that people are suffering emotionally and he wants to uplift people's spirits.

So different from what we are hearing from orange buffoon who only thinks about himself and how mean people are being to him.

The local DJ began feeling sick March 14. He received a prescription from his primary care doctor for a COVID test. On March 19, after four days of trying to get tested but being turned away, he was finally able to get tested for the novel coronavirus at the drive-thru testing site at Lee Convenient Care's Page Field location. On March 21, he was given a positive test result for COVID-19. The next day, he went to Gulf Coast Medical Center

Four days later, on Thursday, he became the virus's fourth victim in Lee County, and more notably, its youngest.

Conrad Buchanan was 39.

He leaves behind his wife, Nicole Buchanan, and their daughter, Skye. He also has a son named Ethan, plus hundreds of friends and family members who have flocked to his Facebook page in an outpouring of grief. They have raised almost $30,000 to help pay his medical bills and help the mother and daughter financially through a GoFundMe page.

Those are not my words. I saw this quote on a twitter thread. Very poignant. I think there are those that will be willing to sacrifice countless lives to support Trump when it comes to Trump " opening up our country".

And the pro-life people will be just fine with it.
