Peyton out-acted John Malkovich

LOL. Malkovich chewed up the scenery-- the Roman Colosseum!-- as always, very entertaining, but Peyton had the understated wry approach just right.

When I recall that shy, wooden-voiced 22-year-old who came to Indy 20 years ago-- he sure has learned to act. (And along the way, as he pointed out... TWO super bowl wins.)

Revisiting Trump's Inauguration Speech on the Shutdown's 34th Day

Let’s look at the America he promised and the America we got.
Two years ago this week, Donald Trump was sworn into office. His inaugural address on Jan. 21, 2017, painted a picture of America that was darker and more sinister than many of us had imagined. America, according to Trump that day, suffered from seething corruption in government, rampant criminality in the streets, and hopeless mistrust between its citizens.
For many of us, his description was an America we didn’t really recognize, a cesspool of greed and fear and hate. He also positioned himself as the man who would fix it.

Two years later, we are padlocked inside the longest shutdown in American history, with 800,000 federal workers who rely upon Trump’s government about to miss a second paycheck. Emergency food resources and domestic violence shelters are stretched beyond capacity. Air traffic controllers and pilots warn of horrifying risk for imminent crises. Members of the U.S. Coast Guard are now forced to get food from food pantries. Hundreds of federal workers protested Wednesday in the Senate, culminating in 12 arrests. Considering all of this, I decided to revisit the president’s speech to understand whether we’re closer or further from the apocalyptic vision he put forth in 2017.

"How to respond to FSB offer of employment?"

Paul Erickson, GOP operative, seems to have been quite open about his eagerness to sell out his country to Putin:

"Unrelated to specific presidential campaigns,” Erickson wrote in an October 2016 email to an acquaintance that was later obtained by the FBI, “I’ve been involved in securing a VERY private line of communication between the Kremlin and key [unnamed political party] leaders through, of all conduits, the [unnamed gun-rights organization].”

Trump tells crowd in birthplace of Elvis he looked like the singer growing up

Source: CNN

President Trump gave Elvis a shout-out in Tupelo, which he called the “proud birthplace of the King of Rock n Roll.”

“You’ll say I’m very conceited,” Trump said, adding, “Other than the blond hair when I was growing up they said I look like Elvis.”

Did Trump just threaten to blackmail some Democrat?

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-threat-democratic-senator-brett-kavanaugh-investigation-allegations-2018-10

He is such a bs-er. "I've seen that person..." He's never seen whoever this is. And he's just making it up.

--

President Donald Trump issued a vague threat to an unnamed Democratic senator during a Monday press conference while addressing scrutiny of his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's drinking habits.

Trump was fielding questions from reporters about an FBI investigation into sexual-misconduct allegations when he said he supported Kavanaugh being interviewed. But he cast doubt on Senate Democrats' apparent interest in the judge's drinking habits in high school and college.

"They're going back to high school, they're saying he drank a lot one evening in high school," Trump said, referring to the Senate Judiciary Committee's questions into Kavanaugh's past drinking habits after two women described drunken incidents of sexual assault and misconduct from his time in high school and college that Kavanaugh denied.

Trump continued: "I happen to know some United States senators, one on the other side who is pretty aggressive — I've seen that person in very bad situations ... somewhat compromising."

Maya Wiley fangirling here.

(She's on MSNBC tonight.)

If they do a film about Olympic gods, Maya Wiley should play Athena-- wise, compassionate, beautiful.
