Trump bashes CNN, NBC, defends Sinclair Broadcast Group after 'fake news' speeches by local anchors

Trump bashes CNN, NBC, defends Sinclair Broadcast Group after 'fake news' speeches by local anchors

President Donald Trump on Monday touted Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns more than two dozen NBC news affiliates, as being "far superior to CNN and even more Fake NBC."
The defense of Sinclair came amid a seven-tweet flurry Monday morning, in which the president weighed in on topics ranging from immigration to mega-retailer Amazon's tax status.

@realDonaldTrump
So funny to watch Fake News Networks, among the most dishonest groups of people I have ever dealt with, criticize Sinclair Broadcasting for being biased. Sinclair is far superior to CNN and even more Fake NBC, which is a total joke.

Sinclair's local broadcast networks drew national attention in March, after dozens of television anchors across the country recited an identical speech warning that some outlets are promulgating "biased and false news" in order to "push their own personal bias."

"This is extremely dangerous to our democracy," the script read.

Sinclair, which owns or operates 193 television stations, is the largest broadcaster in the U.S.

A fake photo of Emma Gonzlez went viral on the far right, where Parkland teens are villains

Gun-control advocates have held up Gonzlez as a figurehead of the movement, splashing her trademark shaved head on T-shirts and viral images.

Then, there is another viewpoint of her activism.

A doctored animation of Gonzlez tearing the U.S. Constitution in half circulated on social media during the rally, after it was lifted from a Teen Vogue story about teenage activists. In the real image, Gonzlez is ripping apart a gun-range target.

The doctored image mushrooming across social media appeared to confirm the belief among Second Amendment absolutists that calls for stricter gun-control measures are sacrosanct, destroying the very foundation of the United States. The animation bounced around conservative Twitter before it received a signal boost Saturday from actor Adam Baldwin.

He tweeted to a quarter of a million followers with a hashtag reading #Vorwrts!, the German word for forward and an apparent reference to the Hitler Youth, whose march song included the word.

Orly Taitz (born August 30, 1960)[8] is a Moldovan-American political conspiracy theorist. A dentist, lawyer,[9] and former real estate agent,[10][11] Taitz was a figure in the "birther" movement, which promoted the conspiracy theory that Barack Obama was not a natural-born citizen eligible to serve as President of the United States. Taitz also promotes a number of other conspiracy theories both related and unrelated to Obama. Taitz has initiated a number of lawsuits on behalf of the "birther" movement; all were dismissed by the courts, and on one occasion Taitz was ordered to pay $20,000 as a sanction for misconduct in filing frivolous claims. Taitz has unsuccessfully run for statewide office in California three times.

Bolton interview 3/15/18 on Fox

Bolton on Ex-Spy Poisoning by Russia: Putin Is Saying, 'What Are You Gonna Do About It?'

Bolton on North Korea Talks: They're Only Serious About Finishing a 'Deliverable Nuclear Weapon'

Bolton: 'Our Goal Should Be Regime Change in Iran'

John Bolton said Thursday that the chemical poisoning of a former Russian spy and his daughter in England fits into the larger pattern of Russia and similar regimes making peaceful promises and then lying about them.

The former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations said that not only is the attack itself significant, but so is the fact that it is in violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention."What does it take to get people to connect the dots?" Bolton asked Sandra Smith. "Russia, China, Syria, Iran, North Korea...these are regimes that make agreements and lie about them."

-
In a further response to the attack, U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May expelled 23 Russian diplomats.

Bolton said the "blatant" attack in public reminds him of North Korea, "Moscow's friend," murdering Kim Jong Un's brother in the middle of an airport last year."It's an act of defiance. It's saying to London and the other western capitals, 'what are you gonna do about it?' Well, I think there should be a very strong answer to that," he said, arguing the time has come for real "deterrence" that Vladimir Putin will understand.

Smith also asked Bolton about the potential exit of White House National Security Advisor H. R. McMaster, of whom Bolton is rumored to potentially replace.

"It it my long-standing and very boring policy not to comment on personnel matters," Bolton replied. "And that's what I'm still doing."

Watch the interview above.

Blankfein Says He Appreciates How Trump Skirts the Media on Twitter

Blankfein Says He Appreciates How Trump Skirts the Media on Twitter

One of Lloyd Blankfein’s inspirations for joining Twitter: Donald Trump.

"It’s only with some great trepidation I’d say anything positive about the president in this crowd, or any crowd,” Goldman Sachs Group Inc.’s chief executive officer said at an event in Boston. “But I would say that one of the things I admire is the way he disintermediated the press. I mean, really, you have to say it.”

A coup at the BBG... journalism toward a viewpoint favorable of (sic) the Trump Administration,

House Dem: Plot To Oust Broadcast Board CEO ‘Our Worst Nightmare’
By Alice Ollstein | March 21, 2018 11:14 am

The top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee says whistleblowers have detailed a plot by the Trump administration to oust the CEO of the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) and replace him with someone favored by the White House. Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) warned in a letter to the BBG, obtained by TPM, that that candidate, André Mendes, then plans to dismiss the existing Board of Governors, according to the whistleblowers. In a statement to TPM, Engel called the alleged plot “our worst nightmare coming true.”

“This action would violate current law and represent what these whistleblowers have described as ‘a coup at the BBG,’ presumably with the aim of pushing the BBG’s journalism toward a viewpoint favorable of (sic) the Trump Administration,” Engel wrote to the BBG. “I view these claims as credible and this scenario as outrageous and unacceptable.”

=
Less than a month after President Trump’s inauguration, Breitbart News published a list titled “Top 10 Holdover Obama Bureaucrats President Trump Can Fire Or Remove Today.” Lansing was number three. “The problem in recent years is that Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, and the other broadcasting entities run by BBG have shifted from their traditional mission of promoting classic American values and interests to the rest of the world, and have become mirror images of mainstream media outlets like CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS,” Breitbart wrote. “Current CEO John Lansing, a veteran cable industry executive, took over the reins in 2015 and has done nothing to stop that trend.”Now, Engel says whistleblowers have informed him that a former Breitbart contributor Jeffrey Shapiro has been working on a plan with White House Associate Director of Presidential Personnel Jennifer Locetta to push Lansing out the door and scrap the agency’s move toward independent, non-partisan journalism.

“According to several accounts, Messrs. Mendes and Shapiro have made it clear in recent months their intention to remake the BBG into an agency aimed at promoting the Trump Administration’s agenda, which would constitute an egregious violation of the law requiring a ‘firewall’ between BBG’s management and its independent journalists,” Engel wrote this week. “Such a scheme would represent a shocking abuse of authority and would reveal an effort by this administration to turn the BBG into a propaganda machine.”

Cambridge Analytica Looked to Pounce on Russian Hacks, Email Shows

Cambridge Analytica Looked to Pounce on Russian Hacks, Email Shows
The email came two days after Trump ‘joked’ about asking Russia to find Hillary Clinton’s emails.

BETSY WOODRUFF
03.21.18 5:08 AM ET

Cambridge Analytica hoped to capitalize on Russian hacking of Hillary Clinton and her ally, an email written by one of its employees indicates.

Emily Cornell, the employee, sent the email on July 29, 2016. It went out to people working with Make America Number One, the pro-Trump super PAC funded by Republican super-donors Robert and Rebekah Mercer.
-
On July 22, seven days before Cornell’s email, WikiLeaks had published almost 20,000 emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee. The hack—which included emails showing some DNC officials pushing for Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders in the primary—threw the Democratic Party into turmoil. Then-DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned from her post because of the hack. On July 27, then-candidate Trump said in a press conference that he hoped Kremlin-backed individuals would find emails Clinton deleted as secretary of State.

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” he said.
