'Worst Cooks in America' Season 20 Pulled by Food Network After Winner Charged With Murder

Food Network has pulled Season 20 of competition "Worst Cooks in America" from circulation after its winner, Ariel Robinson, was charged with the murder of a 3-year-old child.

The season is no longer available on streaming platforms, including Discovery, Inc.'s new streaming service, Discovery+, or the Food Network website.

"Worst Cooks in America," hosted by Anne Burrell and Alex Guarnaschelli for Season 20, follows "two premier chefs" who "work to transform a team of hopeless cooks from kitchen disasters to kitchen masters, and the last recruit standing wins $25,000." Robinson, a teacher, won the show's most recent installment on Aug. 2.

The public’s apathy and despair towards Trump’s lies, researchers point out, were by design: The attacks mirrored a Russian propaganda technique known as the “firehose of falsehood,” which is exactly what it sounds like—relentless, rapid, bogus information. As Mother Jones‘ Mark Follman wrote in October, “Trump is using the autocrat’s playbook. Vladimir Putin’s, to be specific.”

What is especially striking is how the tsunami of untruths kept rising the longer he served as president and became increasingly unmoored from the truth.

Trump averaged about six claims a day in his first year as president, 16 claims day in his second year, 22 claims day in this third year—and 39 claims a day in his final year. Put another way, it took him 27 months to reach 10,000 claims and an additional 14 months to reach 20,000. He then exceeded the 30,000 mark less than five months later.

Lucas Fassari found the unusual rock in November in the Brazil region of Rio Grande do Sul, according to American geologist Mike Bowers, the current owner of the rock. Bowers posted information on the unusual find to his Facebook page this week.

"I think this is probably the most perfect Cookie Monster out there," Bowers said in an interview with the Daily Mail on Tuesday. "I have seen others, but here you have it complete (both sides)."

Before the non-descript rock was split, it looked a lot like a gray egg. But once broken in half, the rock is revealed to contain blue quartz crystals that look a lot like a very happy Cookie Monster.

"This is very unusual. There are a few famous agates out there: the owl, the scared face... there are many approximate ones but rare to find clear well defined like that," Bowers said. "Prices can be very high. I was proposed over $10,000 by five different buyers."

Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), career is built on lies

Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), the young congressman who told Republicans to “lightly threaten” their representatives before the Capitol riot, has built his political career on a series of oafish lies. The slightest scrutiny has turned up a rejection from the Naval Academy and a fake real estate business. (Cawthorn claimed he was accepted to the Naval Academy and that he was a successful real estate investor.)

An investigation by The Nation which applied the same level of attention to his claims about training for the Paralympics appears to have turned up predictably similar results.

Cawthorn, who was paralyzed from the waist down in a 2014 car accident, has hyped his supposed Paralympic career in campaign ads and on Instagram. One of his posts claimed that he was aspiring to break one of the 100-meter world records for disabled athletes.

That alone should have raised several red flags. There are dozens of classifications for disabled athletes in elite competition depending on the disability, and Cawthorn wrote that he was “a couple seconds too slow.” In other words, nowhere near the record. A regular person off the street could come within “a couple seconds” of any 100-meter world record; it’s only 100 meters.

Farewell to Trump's Baby Sociopaths

Today we say goodbye and good riddance to Donald J. Trump, the worst, laziest, and most tangerine-hued of our 45 presidents. He left a path of destruction in his wake that included 400,000 dead Americans, a decimated economy, shattered norms, broken laws, and endless grifting. And if his venality, corruption, and incompetence weren’t enough, he punctuated his tenure in the highest (and before now, most respected) office by inciting an attempt to overthrow the same institutions that empowered him—the act of a malignant and sociopathic narcissist who is also, to use a diagnosis not technically listed in the DSM, a giant baby.

But we also must bid farewell to the Trump children: the ambulatory evidence that narcissism, incompetence, and corruption are genetically inherited traits. Like their decency-challenged paterfamilias, they hardly bothered to veil their contempt for democratic norms, and used every available opportunity to exploit their positions—and by extension, taxpayers—to make money and accumulate unearned power. They deserve their own send-off, especially considering the persistent rumors that they have political ambitions of their own and that some form of recidivism seems inevitable.
