College president fired after accusations of sexual assault
https://www.kentucky.com/news/local/education/article255508041.htmlCollege employee says she was assaulted, harassed by president on work trip
A Georgetown College employee said she was sexually harassed and assaulted by former college President William A. Jones at a hotel in October, according to an emergency protective order filed earlier this week. Jones was fired as president of Georgetown College on Monday after the school learned of allegations of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior with female employees, as well as other conduct in violation of Joness employment agreement with the College, according to a release from the school.
The college learned of the allegations on Sunday, and Jones was fired by the Board of Trustees on Monday, the school said.
William Jones sexually harassed me in the lobby of (the) hotel before later sexually assaulting me in his hotel room, the employee wrote. Multiple times throughout the incidents timeframe I told him to stop.
GOP take a simple concept to be outraged about, hammer it to death: $450K payouts to immigrants
separated at the border for example. or another caravan is heading to the US. stuff that gets them outraged and enthusiastic about voting anti DEM.
I haven't seen Dems taking these issues and explaining the truth or complexity of it.
It's Faux news and other rightwing media daily ... "Dementia Joe is paying $$450K to each illegal", "Biden's caravan is on the way"
"Dems want shoplifters to go free...".
Critical Race Theory put forth as something being taught to make white kindergarteners hate themselves.
issues presented simply with no nuance. it works for them.
I've watched it happen over the last few months. No wonder, Dems lose ground in purple states.
I was listening to talk radio when Trump began his reach for the WH. I remember it was anti immigrant all day long, BEFORE TRUMP... he simply listened and absorbed the topic and road it to the WH with his technique of presenting the topic simply.

That poor child trying to adult her father: Trick-or-treaters dad forces her to take tons of candy from free-for-all bowl
While trick-or-treating from an unattended candy bowl, a young girl took just a few candiesonly to be stopped by someone who appears to be her parent. The parent then proceeds to dump a sizable portion of the bowl into her bag, an act that caused outrage when the Ring doorbell video was posted to TikTok.
The video was shared by user @t4yl0r and by Tuesday had more than 3 million views. The clip starts as a cute, candid moment.

Did you take everything that was in there? asks the father.
I just took a little bit because the trick-or-treaters need some, she adorably replies.
The father makes his way over to the bowl, moving handful after handful of candy into the girls bag.
Leave some for the trick-or-treaters! the girl reminds him. In the video, @t4yl0r shares that it was early evening, and there were still people trick-or-treating, justifying the young girls concern.

Moderates pushed to eliminate immigrants public benefits
Latest development comes after multiple cuts to plans

House Democrats are weighing dramatic cuts to immigration provisions that are a shell of lawmakers original goal of providing a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants.
The latest proposal in Democrats sweeping social spending and tax bill is an immigration parole provision that would bar applicants from receiving government benefits, including food stamps, childrens health insurance, and other social safety net programs, according to people familiar with the negotiations.
Democrats in both the House and Senate were earlier considering a parole option that would offer work authorization and deportation protections to immigrants whove been in the U.S. since Jan. 1, 2011. Under existing law, immigrants with parole status qualify for a broad range of public benefitsmany of them after five years of status.

NASCAR requires Kyle Busch to take sensitivity training
NASCAR officials will require Kyle Busch to take sensitivity training before the start of the 2022 season following offensive comments made after Sundays Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway.
The two-time series champion used a term that disparages those with intellectual disabilities when describing an on-track incident with Brad Keselowski. Both drivers were eliminated from title contention ahead of the Phoenix Raceway finale.
After the race, Busch apologized for the remarks on Twitter.

COVID survivor revisits Washington hospital to apologize for being unvaccinated
COVID survivor revisits Washington hospital to apologize for being unvaccinatedAfter battling Covid-19 for almost a month and being released from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Richard Soliz returned to the hospital in late October. But it was not for medical treatment -- it was to apologize.
Soliz, a graphic artist who had not received a Covid-19 vaccine, spent 28 days on a ventilator and heart monitor at the hospital in late August and much of September.
-------------------
Soliz told CNN that he struggled to breathe and felt as though he could have died at any moment. But he wanted to say sorry to those who cared for him, thanking everyone he saw at the facility who played a role in saving his life.
"I was literally on my deathbed and hanging from a string, and [doctors and nurses] tended to me as perfect strangers," Soliz said. He added, when "you're in a position that I was in, it resonates differently, and I just had to say something."
He said that he was embarrassed to say that he was unvaccinated when asked by hospital staff. Few patients in the ICU, though, say that they are, hospital officials said.

Police dog bites 5-year-old's face at South Pasadena National Night Out
Police dog bites 5-year-old's face at South Pasadena National Night Out-----------------
Solinsky said the dog's handler will remain on duty as the department investigates the incident.
The attack at the National Night Out event in Orange Grove Park overshadowed what was intended to be a chance for police and the city to build trust with South Pasadenans.
"It's unfortunate that it happened, and we're concerned that it happened," Solinksy said. "At the same token, it's not reflective or a negative view of law enforcement; this really was an accident."
-------------------
During the event, South Pasadena police officers held a demonstration in which their narcotics dog would sniff out synthetic aids hidden from plain sight.
As the family joined a crowd to watch the demonstration, standing about 10 to 15 feet from the unleashed dog, the canine turned toward the 5-year-old, made eye contact, then ran and lunged at Sebastian, biting into his face, Forbes recalled.
Forbes and an officer were able to pull the dog off the boy, who was bloodied and screaming, Forbes said. Fire paramedics already at the event treated the boy, who was eventually taken to Huntington Hospital.
Solinksy said that, based on eyewitnesses and officer accounts, the boy walked past the crowd and toward the dog, trying to pet it before the attack.
