Miami Police officers said they had to shut down an Air Jordan shoe-release event at the Miami nightclub E11even this past Saturday after cops said patrons got too "rowdy" while waiting for sneakers. Video shows crowds surging against metal barriers in an unsafe manner.

But the video also reveals cops also became pretty unruly. An Instagram post uploaded after the event shows a short MPD officer violently shoving a taller, black attendee who had his hands in the air. The man seemed to simply be trying to exit the crowd when enraged-looking cops put their hands on him.

EMT worker suspended after racist comments on white supremacist podcast

https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/13/us/virginia-first-responder-racist-remarks/index.html

An emergency medical technician has been placed on unpaid leave after racist comments surfaced of him comparing black patients to gorillas and claiming to take "immense satisfaction" as he "terrorized" an African American boy with a needle.

Alex McNabb, a part-time EMT in Patrick County, Virginia, made the statements on a white supremacist podcast called "The Daily Shoah." McNabb is a frequent co-host of the podcast, whose title mocks the Holocaust.

The comments, which McNabb, 35, later claimed on Twitter to be a "work of fiction," ignited a debate over whether he can render adequate care to vulnerable, minority and Jewish patients.

McNabb would not comment directly to CNN, beyond indicating in a tweet that he is undergoing a "character assassination attempt."
Using an alter-ego named "Dr. Narcan" on the podcast McNabb repeatedly called black people "dindus," a slur combining the words "didn't" and "do" -- a reference to black people who claim they are mistreated by the justice system.

In one podcast from October 4, 2016, first reported by the Huffington Post, McNabb tells of an emergency call to what he characterized as a black apartment complex that medics call "Ebola Alley." Using the Dr. Narcan persona, he refers to a black woman as a "dinduisha" and called her a shaved "Harambe," the name of a famous gorilla.

"This individual should never be involved in patient care at any level," said Lock Boyce, the board of supervisors' chairman of Patrick County. "Not as a physician, a nurse, an EMT. Not anywhere." The rural, overwhelmingly white county in the Blue Ridge Mountains has a contract with McNabb's employers.

Incoming New York attorney general plans wide-ranging investigations of Trump and family

New York Attorney Gen.-elect Letitia James says she plans to launch sweeping investigations into President Donald Trump, his family and "anyone" in his circle who may have violated the law once she settles into her new job next month.

"We will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family as well," James, a Democrat, told NBC News in her first extensive interview since she was elected last month.

James outlined some of the probes she intends to pursue with regard to the president, his businesses and his family members. They include:

Any potential illegalities involving Trump's real estate holdings in New York, highlighting a New York Times investigation published in October into the president's finances.

The June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian official.

Examine government subsidies Trump received, which were also the subject of Times investigative work.

Whether he is in violation of the emoluments clause in the U.S. Constitution through his New York businesses.

Continue to probe the Trump Foundation.

"We want to investigate anyone in his orbit who has, in fact, violated the law," said James, who was endorsed by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The CDC keeps warning people not to eat raw cookie dough -- even though it's delicious

The Christmas cookies are in the oven; the mixing bowl, which is still coated with the sugary sweet dough, is calling your name.

Don’t listen to it, health experts warn.

With holiday baking season underway, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is once again urging people not to eat unbaked cookie dough — not even a tiny taste — because “unbaked products that are intended to be cooked, such as dough or batter, can make you sick.”

“Say No to Raw Dough!” the CDC warns.

The potential problem is with two primary ingredients.

Raw flour can be contaminated with Escherichia coli (E. coli), and raw eggs have been a known carrier of salmonella bacteria.

Both bacteria are killed in the cooking process, but contaminated food that is not cooked or is undercooked has been known to make people ill, according to the CDC.

French Christmas Market shooting, 2 dead, 11 injured. Gunman not captured

Two people have been killed and 11 others wounded in a shooting in the eastern French city of Strasbourg.

The gunman, known to security services, is on the run and is being hunted by police. He had been injured in an exchange of gunfire with a soldier, police said.

The shooting happened close to a Christmas market in one of the central squares, Place Kléber.

France's counter terrorism prosecutor has opened an investigation.

Confirming the death toll had risen to two, the French interior minister, Christophe Castaner, who is on his way to the city, called it a "serious public security incident".

Seven of the injured are said to be in a serious condition.

Police said the suspect was already known to the security services as a possible terrorist threat.

GOP Confirms Another Trump Judge Who Was Rated 'Not Qualified' To Serve to lifetime seat

GOP Confirms Another Trump Judge Who Was Rated ‘Not Qualified’ To Serve
Jonathan Kobes, 44, just got a lifetime seat on a U.S. circuit court. No big deal!

WASHINGTON ― Senate Republicans voted Tuesday to confirm one of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees, Jonathan Kobes, even though Kobes has earned an abysmal “not qualified” rating from the American Bar Association.

Vice President Mike Pence broke the tie vote on Kobes, who will now be a lifetime judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. Every Republican except Sen. Jeff Flake (Ariz.) voted for Kobes. No Democrats voted for him.

The ABA concluded in September that Kobes, a 44-year-old attorney who is general counsel to Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), “has neither the requisite experience nor evidence of his ability to fulfill the scholarly writing required of a United States Circuit Court Judge.”

Members of the ABA standing committee that reviewed Kobes’ nomination said they had difficulty analyzing his professional competence because “he was unable to provide sufficient writing samples of the caliber required” of a circuit judge. Lacking sufficient proof that Kobes is capable of “an especially high degree of legal scholarship and excellent analytical and writing experience,” the panel voted to rate him “not qualified.”

It is incredibly rare for the Senate to confirm a judge with such a terrible rating from the national legal organization. A big part of the problem is that Trump is flying through judicial nominations without much vetting, and he’s not submitting his potential court picks to the ABA before he announces their nominations. Traditionally, presidents have waited for the ABA rating to come out before officially announcing a nominee, in part to save face in the event one of their nominees gets a particularly bad rating.

no jail for Baylor frat president rapist (warning, trigger)

https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/11/us/baylor-ex-frat-president-rape-allegation/index.html

Even though Jacob Walter Anderson was indicted on four counts of sexual assault, the ex-fraternity president won't spend a single day in prison.

Instead, a plea agreement allowed the former Baylor University student to plead no contest to a lesser charge of unlawful restraint.
If the 24-year-old successfully completes three years of deferred probation and pays a $400 fine, his criminal record will be wiped clean of the charge, and he won't have to register as a sex offender, CNN affiliate KWKT said.

---------------------------------

In her victim impact statement, the woman said Anderson "repeatedly raped me orally and (vaginally)."

"When he forcefully picked me up and shoved me into a wall to rape me vaginally from behind he calmly and coldly said, 'It's fine. You're fine.' When I tried to pull up my pants or sit he shoved me to the ground and shoved his penis back down my throat and continued to choke me," the woman said.

"When he forced me up again and started to rape me vaginally again I blacked out permanently. When I was completely unconscious he dumped me face down in the dirt and left me there to die. He had taken what he wanted, had proven his power over my body. He then walked home and went to bed without a second thought to the ravaged, half dead woman he had left behind."
As he walked out of the courtroom Monday, Anderson declined to comment to the media.
CNN reached out to Anderson's defense team and the victim's attorney Tuesday, but has not received responses.
