John harangues delivery man for ID, delivery man's verbal beatdown makes him cry

gotta watch the video here:

The man, wearing a blue zip-up jacket and black New Balance sneakers, harangues the delivery driver over identification, pulling out his phone at one point to take a picture.

“Who are you?”

The driver, audibly frustrated, replies, “Who the f—k are you? Why are you in my business?”

“Every time I come around here,” he added, “motherf—kers like you make my job harder.”

---------------

The man, who identifies himself as John, repeatedly asks what the boxes are for, who they’re addressed to and why the man is in the neighborhood. He later explains that there have been a spate of missing boxes in the area and pulls out his phone, hands trembling, to capture a photo or video of the deliveryman.

But the deliveryman says he sees right through John’s reasoning.

“Don’t think I don’t know why you came over here and stopped me,” he said, “because you think I belong in another neighborhood, right? F—k yourself.”

Texas high school valedictorian scraps her approved graduation speech - blasts anti-abortion

Texas high school valedictorian scraps her approved graduation speech and instead BLASTS state's anti-abortion bill from the podium, calling it a 'war on my body and a war on my rights'

Lake Highlands High School valedictorian Paxton Smith had initially planned to use her speech to discuss the effect of the media on young minds
Instead, she swapped it at the last minute for an impassioned address on Texas's 'dehumanizing' new anti-abortion bill

The law, signed by Gov. Greg Abbott last month, bans abortions at as early as six weeks, when some women don't even know they're pregnant yet
Paxton told a crowd that it's 'gut-wrenching' to 'have the autonomy over your own body taken from you'

She said she is terrified that if she is raped or if her contraceptives fail, 'my hopes and aspirations and dreams and efforts for my future will no longer matter'

Her speech had gone viral, earning praise from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former US Representative Beto O'Rourke of Texas

Sacramento pool incident... group of mothers saw two women kissing and lost their minds

A video posted on Instagram shows the aftermath of an incident at a Sacramento hotel, in which a group was kicked out of the hotel pool after allegedly scolding two women for kissing in front of children.

The footage was posted on Monday by Art Kaligos, a 43-year-old Portland man who works in the photography industry. He said he was at the Sawyer with friends after embarking on a biking trip from San Francisco.

"We were relaxing in the pool as it was super hot and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves until a group of white mothers asked a young queer woman of color to stop kissing her female friend in front of their children," Kaligos told SFGATE in an email. "The young queer woman was visibly upset at being targeted and called out the women for being racists and homophobic, as there were many other people in the pool — straight and white — who were just as affectionate."

Kaligos added that the group of mothers "demanded" an apology from Veasley. Then, they took action after the group called security.

"I decided that we've seen too many videos of trauma and wanted to film these homophobes being shamed out of the pool area," he said. "I was inspired by the Cersei walk of shame from 'Game of Thrones,' hence I started chanting and recording."

At a Small Maine School, Cursive Endures and Wins National Awards

At a Small Maine School, Cursive Endures and Wins National Awards
Although cursive handwriting “is a dying field,” as one teacher said, it has made a comeback in some schools, including one in Maine where two students won awards this month

For years, screens have replaced notebooks, keyboards have subbed in for pens and digital life has revolved around the printed word.

But at a small school in Maine, cursive handwriting thrives, with two students recognized in a national contest last week for their skills crossing T’s and dotting I’s with precise and legible shape, size, spacing and slant.

The students, from the town of Woodland, won awards in the Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest, which is open to students from public and private schools in kindergarten through the eighth grade. The students learned how to properly loop their L’s at Woodland Consolidated School, which has a history of winning awards in the contest.

Although cursive handwriting is not as widely seen or as prominent as decades past, it has made a comeback in some classrooms. After Common Core standards no longer required that cursive be taught in public elementary schools in 2010, some administrators — including in districts in Texas, Ohio and Illinois — reintroduced a cursive curriculum in elementary schools.

Huntington beach california MAGA nutbag pro tem mayor resigns citing personal attacks

Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tem Tito Ortiz resigns, citing personal attacks
Tito Ortiz

Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tem Tito Ortiz has resigned his position, citing an onslaught of public attacks on his character and a fear for the safety of his family.

_____

He said that he has been the “sole focus of character assassination each and every week with multiple news stories” that sought to defame his name. The attacks, he said, now involve his family, causing him to fear for their safety.

“I was sworn in, and I was met with hostility and judgment,” said Ortiz, 46.

______

Ortiz, who was sworn in as a councilman Dec. 7, has been outspoken about his refusal to wear a mask or get a vaccine to protect against COVID-19. He’s previously accused his fellow council members of singling him out because of his conservative views.

Ortiz’s campaign slogan in last year’s race was “Make Huntington Beach Safe Again,” a nod to former President Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again.” When the ballots were counted in November, Ortiz received more than 42,000 votes — the most in a council race in the city’s history.

police chief in PA out of job and facing prison time - threatened man with fake arrest

A police chief in Pennsylvania is now out of a job and facing prison time after allegedly threatening to jail a man who insulted him on Facebook. In February 2020, East Stroudsburg resident Paul DeLorenzo had penned a Facebook post in which he accused West Hazleton Police Chief Brian Buglio of committing a violent crime and said he was slow to make an arrest.

DeLorenzo tells WNEP that the chief then "called me, left me a voicemail, and said that he was going to arrest me for a crime that was being investigated—for something I've never even done or had any part of." During a meeting in March, DeLorenzo says Buglio threatened to file a felony charge against him unless he deleted the critical posts. "He goes, 'Well, you like to post fake things and fake stories about me so, I could make up a fake arrest and put you in jail.'"

DeLorenzo says Buglio acknowledged at the meeting that the threatened charges were bogus. But he says he agreed to remove the posts. Later, he spoke with the FBI about what had happened. Federal authorities say 45-year-old Buglio, who's been a police officer in West Hazleton for the last 25 years, has now agreed to plead guilty to a civil rights violation. He faces a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.
