'General Hospital' Anti-Vaxxer Sues ABC Over Dismissal, Says God Protects Him From COVID

https://www.thedailybeast.com/ingo-rademacher-sues-abc-after-dismissal-from-general-hospital

Ingo Rademacher—the actor who was fired from General Hospital for refusing to take a COVID-19 vaccine—has sued ABC over his dismissal, arguing that his firing amounts to religious discrimination. Rademacher lost his role over his vaccine stance, and he was ditched shortly after upsetting his castmates by posting an anti-transgender meme. In his lawsuit, Rademacher—who played Jasper “Jax” Jacks on the soap for over two decades—claims he asked ABC for a religious exemption from its vaccine mandate, but his request was turned down. According to Variety, he told his employers in October that he should be exempt due to “my deeply and sincerely held moral belief that my body is endowed by my creator with natural processes to protect me and that its natural integrity.”

Ingo Rademacher also shared an anti-transgender meme on social media Sunday, prompting backlash from some castmates.

What Wingers Are Really Saying When They Say 'Missing Children'

This Sunday there was a lot of chatter about Lauren Boebert's tweet, but the real cause for concern isn't her botched rendering of the phrase "Therein lies." It's the dangerous conspiracy theories being pushed by her and others on the Right.

This Sunday there was a lot of chatter about this tweet:

https://twitter.com/laurenboebert/status/1469846923385397249
Most of the talk focuses on Boebert's botched rendering of the phrase "Therein lies." I don't care about that -- Boebert isn't well educated, and many people mock her for that, but you don't have to have a GED to make mistakes like this. Ask a college professor:

https://twitter.com/MichaelBerube1/status/1470060071677796358
I'd rather talk about the number, because it's real but misleading. The International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children finds it in this FBI report of statistics on missing and unidentified persons from the National Crime Information Center.

But what does this mean? Kaitlyn Tiffany has written a very good piece for The Atlantic about the right's current obsession with missing children. She notes that many right-wingers cite a figure of 800,000 missing American kids per year:

There is a widely circulated number ... : 800,000 children go missing in the U.S. every year.... But the number ... comes from a study conducted in 1999 by the Justice Department, and it’s an estimate of the number of children who were reported missing over the period of a year for any reason and for any length of time. The majority were runaways, children caught up in custody disputes, or children who were temporarily not where their guardians expected them to be. The estimate for “nonfamily abductions” reported to authorities was 12,100, which includes stereotypical kidnappings, but came with the caveat that it was extrapolated from “an extremely small sample of cases” and, as a result, “its precision and confidence interval are unreliable.” Later in the report, the authors noted that “only a fraction of 1 percent of the children who were reported missing had not been recovered” by the time they were counted for the study. The authors also clarified that a survey sent to law-enforcement agencies found that “an estimated 115 of the nonfamily abducted children were victims of stereotypical kidnapping.” The Justice Department repeated the study in 2013 and found that reports of missing children had “significantly decreased.”

...The Denver Post won a Pulitzer Prize for its 1985 story laboriously debunking the statistics that had caused such widespread alarm. The actual number of children kidnapped by strangers, according to FBI documentation, turned out to be 67 in 1983, up from 49 in 1982.

This is a very morally broken young man.

After getting dragged for blaming Biden for gas prices while wearing a $1,200 shirt, GA Senate candidate Herschel Walker’s son Christian puts out a video trying to mock Democrats. This is going to be an interesting campaign.

Election-Meddling Henchwoman Didn't Work for Kanye, Spokesperson Says

https://www.thedailybeast.com/kanye-west-distances-himself-from-trevian-kuttis-alleged-2020-election-meddling-in-georgia

Last week, Kanye West’s righthand woman was accused of visiting the home of a Georgia election official to threaten her into falsely confessing to baseless election-tampering charges two days before the Capitol riot.

Unsurprisingly, the megastar has now tried to put some distance between himself and his purported henchwoman, Trevian Kutti. Pierre Rougier, a spokesperson for West, said in a statement to Reuters: “Trevian Kutti was not associated with Kanye West or any of his enterprises at the times of the facts that are reported in these articles or since these facts occurred.”

Kutti, whose website claimed that she started working for West in 2018 and is currently his director of operations, has been accused of meeting Fulton County election worker Ruby Freeman on Jan. 4 and attempting to implicate her in election fraud. Reuters reported that West’s spokesman didn’t answer questions about whether Kutti has ever worked for him.

Trump's Dark-Money Machine Gets a Makeover--and New Owners

The dark-money machine that has funded Donald Trump’s political operation for years has almost completely turned over and was “sold.” Experts say that doesn’t really make sense.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/donald-trumps-dark-money-machine-america-first-policies-gets-a-makeoverand-new-owners

While ex-President Donald Trump spent the last year licking his election wounds and consolidating power in the Republican Party, his allies were busy reconfiguring a constellation of outside spending groups that have helped bankroll his political movement for years. Trump’s influential “dark money” machine appears to have almost entirely turned over, capping the overhaul off with the apparent sale of a pro-Trump nonprofit earlier this year, The Daily Beast has learned.

The changing of the guard at the nonprofit, formerly known as America First Policies, illustrates how difficult it is to get a clear picture of the outside money fueling Trump’s movement. It reflects a turbulent year within the circle of Trump’s top advisers and fundraising chiefs, but also casts another layer of opacity over millions of dollars in already obscured donations the group made to controversial far-right causes in 2020, as Trump fought to cling to the White House.

Lloyd Mayer, an expert in nonprofit law at the University of Notre Dame, cast these anti-transparency developments as “troubling,” saying they strike at the heart of federal sunshine laws. “Whatever your views of so-called ‘dark money’ may be, these groups are further obscuring money flows,” he said. How the money flows was already in little danger of becoming too clear.

America First Policies, a nonprofit which does not have to disclose its donors, was the core of a pro-Trump dark money network, with an organizational scheme that seems confusing by design. If you were looking for an illustration of how difficult it is to track how these groups operate, America First Policies offers a prime example. According to IRS records first obtained by the Center for Public Integrity, America First Policies filed to change its name to America First Works in October. But on Friday, a spokesperson for America First Works told The Daily Beast it wasn’t a name change—America First Policies had been “sold” to America First Works “in a private deal” earlier this year, he said.

Mandatory Vax to Fly Remains a Jet Bridge Too Far for Biden White House

The Biden administration has signalled that while vaccine and testing requirements for domestic travel haven’t been ruled out, it’s in no rush to push a new policy any time soon.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/mandatory-vax-to-fly-remains-a-jet-bridge-too-far-for-joe-bidens-white-house

As the nation prepares for the busiest holiday travel season since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic two years ago, the White House has remained adamant that vaccination requirements for international travel to the United States are vital to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Domestic travel, however, is still a free-for-all—despite increasing calls from public health experts and lawmakers to hold Americans traveling from Florida to the same standards expected of Americans traveling from France.

“If you go on the CDC website and look at what they say for domestic travel, they say delay travel until you’re fully vaccinated—that would imply that they think vaccination is a good thing to have before you get on an airplane,” said Dr. Timothy Brewer, a professor of epidemiology at UCLA’s Fielding School of Public Health and of Medicine. “There’s no medical or public health reason to assume that traveling on a domestic airplane is different from traveling on an international airplane.”

Under current rules implemented last month, almost all international travelers are required to submit proof of full vaccination, as well as a recent negative COVID-19 test, in order to travel to the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also require airlines to keep track of “basic, valid contact information” for all international travelers in order to conduct contract tracing in the event of an outbreak. The rules apply to both foreign nationals and to American citizens living and traveling abroad.

Man vaccinated up to 10 times in the same day

Auckland: He’s vaxxed to the max, and that might not be a good thing.

https://www.smh.com.au/world/oceania/man-vaccinated-up-to-10-times-in-the-same-day-20211212-p59gxk.html

An unidentified man in New Zealand may have been vaccinated as many as 10 times in a single day. Authorities believe the multi-vaccinated man may have been paid to get shots under the names of other individuals, who want the privileges extended to those protected against COVID-19, but don’t want to get the jabs.

New Zealand Ministry of Health vaccine program manager Astrid Koornneef said officials were “aware of the issue” and taking it “very seriously”. Health officials are also working with law enforcement to investigate the situation. It’s unclear where exactly the individual got his multitude of shots, but Koornneef recommends that he visits a doctor again as soon as he can.

“If you know of someone who has had more vaccine doses than recommended they should seek clinical advice as soon as practicable,” Koornneef suggested. University of Auckland vaccinologist and associate professor Helen Petousis-Harris said there was limited data on what might happen to someone who had 10 COVID-19 vaccines in a single day, as studies did not cover such excessive doses. “It’s a really dumb thing to do,” she said.

Regarding any long term effects the man might suffer, she said he would probably be fine as the vaccine would leave his body in a few days. But it was likely the man wouldn’t have felt too great the next day, she said, as a more vigorous immune response is what causes side effects.

Alex Jones accuses Joe Biden of using "weather weapons" to spawn deadly tornado outbreak

Serial con artist and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones is at it again and it's a whopper this time.

https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2021/12/alex-jones-accuses-joe-biden-using-weather-weapons-spawn-deadly-tornado-outbreak/

Serial con artist and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones is at it again and it’s a whopper this time. He’s painting President Joe Biden with a brush normally reserved for LGBTQ people: causing natural disasters.

While Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene ranted about Jewish space lasers that she says caused California’s wildfires, Jones took the same basic idea and made it his own. He accused Biden of using “weather weapons” to spawn a deadly tornado outbreak.

While evangelicals and hate groups leaders have regularly jumped on natural disasters to try to pin the blame on LGBTQ people’s “godless lifestyle,” the new MAGA Republicans are upping the drama by introducing technology to the mix. Suddenly the plot of an over-the-top spy novel is jumping off the page and into politics.

“So, they just think you’re stupid and they don’t want you knowing they are doing all of this,” Jone says before elaborating, “and they’ve got carbon systems they are putting in, that big, huge geoengineering systems, terraforming systems that are sucking carbon dioxide out of the air when it’s a trace gas that we need, and was hundreds of times higher millions of years ago than it is now. That’s why plants and animals were so much bigger and healthier. But we’ve adapted to live in less air.”
