About ZapataViva

I am a 64-year-old male of mixed race, my mother Chicana and my dad White. I have been in the Democratic Party since 1972, the year I turned 18, and the year the 18 year old got the vote. I voted for George McGovern that year, and am still proud as hell of that vote. I consider myself very liberal, even slightly militantly liberal, or progressive as we're referred to these days. Although I have been visiting Democratic Underground since I basically got online--I can't even begin to guess what year that was--2004?--I have just now become an active member, if only because I could no longer tolerate some of the attacks on progressives on the message forums here. I hope that doesn't turn some off--but that's the way I feel. I will always try to remain respectful in my comments, though some will undoubtedly be considered provocative.
