Borror to buy Ohio Democratic Party's downtown headquarters

The sale of the Fulton Street building will let the party put $2 million in the bank and eliminate about $24,000 of monthly debt service, which could pay for half a dozen field staffers or millions of digital ads.

So here's what's supposedly gonna happen - exciting plans, indeed. More expensive housing and places to spend money. I rarely go downtown, so location is fuzzy but then there's this:

https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2017/11/14/borror-plans-220-unit-mixed-use-property

Borror is submitting plans for a six-story, mixed-use development site in its first foray into the Discovery District in downtown Columbus.

The plan calls for 220 boutique apartments and 15,000 square feet of commercial space from 229 to 275 E. State St., and would be the largest multifamily project to date for the Columbus developer. [lsnip]

The company has assembled four parcels of land with the intent to build one of the larger buildings in the eastern portion of downtown Columbus, taking a portion of the Schoedinger Funeral Services parking lot and replacing the buildings formerly housing Beery & Spurlock Co. LPA, Ohio Democratic Party offices and O.R. Woodyard Co.

Lori Steiner, president and chief operating officer of Borror, called the area a "new, exciting and growing part of our city."

With interest in urban living fueling growth downtown, attention has turned from the Capitol Square area of western downtown to the east, where Discovery District officials say they want a $2 million facelift for the neighborhood that is anchored by Columbus Museum of Art, the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Columbus State Community College and other cultural hubs. Carding site operator sentenced to 90 months in prison

Not sure this would be the place for this, but it does concern justice for consumers victimized by hacked information.

https://techqoon.net/2019/04/22/carding-site-operator-sentenced-to-90-months-in-prison/

A Macedonian accused of selling over 181,000 stolen credit card details on an underground website he operated between August 2010 and January 2014 has been sentenced to 90 months in prison after previously pleading guilty to access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.

He was also ordered to forfeit $250,000 and pay restitution, the exact sum to be determined at a later stage.

The accused – Djevair Ametovski, aka ‘codeshop,’ ‘sindrom’ and ‘sindromx,’
was arrested by Slovenian authorities in January 2014 and extradited to the United States in May 2016 for crimes linked to a site he https://www.justice.gov/usao-edny/pr/operator-global-cybercrime-marketplace-sentenced-90-months-imprisonmentcreated for the sale of card data and other personal information. Don't remember hearing about this case any earlier, but it could have been "in the news" at an earlier date.

Under the heading: Deciding on Taking One's Own Advice

Perhaps immigrating to the Faroe Islands ??? What - become what I detest, an immigrant? Wait, I got bigly skills and lots of wealth.

https://www.irishtimes.com/news/world/europe/faroe-islands-aim-to-avoid-europe-s-mistakes-on-immigration-1.3661921 Hmmm?

What it doesn't say - very homogenous population to start (can you guess?) with a language all their own. Let's hear it for white diversity. Only 50K opinions to contend with and lots of guys but so few gals they had to import - Asian? - brides. Hey, the wife and daughter would likely be very real, the rarest, of eye candy. Looks like they may have somewhat similar embedded worldviews anyway? They seem not to need to prevent others' freedoms, especially mine? No competitive spirit? We'll see about that.

(Note to self: Have to see about those banking/currency concerns).

Lots of pastoral sheep, hehehe; no problem, I can easily import my Angus steaks...bet they got the best chocolate cakes though.

Everyone has WiFi - can I still reach out on Twitter?

Majestic views for the new mansion.

Tourist friendly - great spot for a new vertical resort(s) with in-door amenities and secret conference rooms/patios.

Perhaps only one little jail: https://www.forbes.com/sites/ericrosen/2017/09/15/is-this-the-coolest-prison-in-the-world/

Problems: 1)Better love Burger King; it's perhaps the only FF; 2)No place for an 18-hole golf course and windy, but pleasant. all year (Hey, at my age, I give myself a big handicap anyway).

Apparently, they've embraced alternative energy systems; now that's a problem. Gotta have a coal and coke plant, right? Then there's no trophy "wild" animals for the boys to hunt (find out about "rats&quot ; in fact, there's also few trees that might require maintenance and none native to protect.

Awwww...forget it - having the time of my life right here!

USAMRID CD3/4 Lab temporarily shut down for inspection failures

The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases has begun a major re-set of its biological safety program and research is currently on hold. The move results from several actions recently taken by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in response to concerns about USAMRIID's past management of its Biological Select Agents and Toxins research program.
