Equal Time, CNN. Otherwise, it's an hour long disinfommercial.

And include an audience of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents.

Not One Single Republican Votes for Probe of Neo-Nazis in US Military and Police

Zero House Republicans supported a measure requiring the Pentagon and federal law enforcement agencies to publish a report on countering white supremacist and neo-Nazi activity in their ranks.

Zero House Republicans on Wednesday supported a measure requiring the Pentagon and federal law enforcement agencies to publish a report on countering white supremacist and neo-Nazi activity in their ranks.

Rep. Brad Schneider's (D-Ill.) amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2023 directing the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Defense "to publish a report that analyzes and sets out strategies to combat white supremacist and neo-Nazi activity in the uniformed services and federal law enforcement agencies" passed in a party-line 218-208 vote.

Among present lawmakers, Democrats were unified in support and Republicans in opposition. Reps. Theodore Deutch (D-Fla.), Kevin Brady (R-Texas), Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), and Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) did not vote.

Snip…

Schneider's proposal requests "figures on the number of people who were discharged from uniformed services or law enforcement because of situations involving white supremacy and neo-Nazi activity," The Hill reported. It also calls for "information on how the agency leaders responded to 'planned or effectuated incidents' connected to white supremacist and neo-Nazi ideology."

Republicans are OK with white supremacy. And the KKK. And NAZIs.

Sad for the United States of America.

I smell a big fat KGB rat in all this.

Context missing from national press coverage of the national gun disorder and Agent Donald Trump and the Russia Thing.

Even if all the media did was to follow the money, they’d find how Agent Trump and the GOP were helped by a hostile power to win ultimate power in the USA. And now that they are out of the Oval Office, their demented spawn kill innocent people with weapons of war, wreck havoc through law and fear, and create the chaotic socio-economic conditions conducive to fascism.

NRA Was 'Foreign Asset' To Russia Ahead of 2016, New Senate Report Reveals

Tim Mak, Heard on All Things Considered

The National Rifle Association acted as a "foreign asset" for Russia in the period leading up to the 2016 election, according to a new investigation unveiled Friday by Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore.

Drawing on contemporaneous emails and private interviews, an 18-month probe by the Senate Finance Committee's Democratic staff found that the NRA underwrote political access for Russian nationals Maria Butina and Alexander Torshin more than previously known — even though the two had declared their ties to the Kremlin.

Snip…

The report indicates that top NRA officials were aware of Butina's and Torshin's links with the Kremlin even as they sought to work more closely together under the banner of gun rights.

In an email later circulated to two senior NRA staff members, Butina wrote that a purpose of the 2015 Moscow trip was that "many powerful figures in the Kremlin are counting on Torshin to prove his American connections" by showing he could bring prominent NRA officials to Russia.

At another point, Butina suggested to participants on the 2015 NRA trip to Russia that she might be able to set up a meeting between them and President Vladimir Putin, referring to him as "Russia's highest leader."

This — the proven and still active connection between America’s ultra right and Russia’s Mafiya of oligarchics and spooks — should be brought up in context of the current vast right wing gun-nut cult, officially OK’d by SCOTUS and America’s plutocrats, IF we had an honest and true national news media. Who knows? It might unite the country against a common enemy: Vladimir Putin and the KGB.

Texas Senate Approves Bill To Allow Gov. Greg Abbott To Overturn Elections

Source: HuffPost via Yahoo

The GOP-controlled Texas Senate on Tuesday passed a proposal allowing the state to overturn elections in Harris County, home to the state's most populous city Houston.

The legislation penalizes county officials for running out of ballot paper at some voting sites in the 2022 election, the Houston Chronicle reported. Still, more importantly, it gives Republican Gov. Greg Abbott "precedent-setting" power to undo election results.

The measure would give Abbott's appointed secretary of state the authority to hold a new election in the county if it runs out of paper at 2% or more of its polling sites for more than an hour, the newspaper noted.

The bill's Republican co-author, state Sen. Mayes Middleton, said, "There is no excuse why we can't competently run our elections and have adequate ballot paper."

“They come to me.” — Jane Roberts, wife of Chief Justice John Roberts.

’They come to me’: Jane Roberts’ legal recruiting work involved officials whose agencies had cases before the Supreme Court

In newly revealed testimony, the wife of Chief Justice John Roberts said she worked for “U.S. attorneys, cabinet officials, former senators” and more.

Jane Roberts, the wife of Chief Justice John Roberts, acknowledges having represented a wide variety of public officials — including senior Justice Department officials and Cabinet members — as they transitioned to jobs in the private sector, according to testimony in an arbitration hearing to resolve a lawsuit filed by an ex-colleague against her former legal recruiting business.

A partial transcript of that testimony was included in a complaint submitted to the House, Senate and Justice Department filed in December on behalf of the former colleague.

Jane Roberts’ placements included at least one firm with a prominent Supreme Court practice, according to the complaint, which also includes sworn testimony from Roberts herself, in which she notes the powerful officials — whose agencies have had frequent cases before her husband — for whom she has worked.

“A significant portion of my practice on the partner side is with senior government lawyers, ranging from U.S. attorneys, cabinet officials, former senators, chairmen of federal commissions, general counsel of federal commissions, and then senior political appointees within the ranks of various agencies, and I -- they come to me looking to transition to the private sector,” Roberts said, according to a transcript of a 2015 arbitration hearing related to her former colleague’s termination.

In her testimony, Roberts also noted the benefit of working with senior government officials: “Successful people have successful friends.”

A photograph of a six-year-old boy pointing a gun at the camera has sparked an argument between the photographer’s agency Reuters and the family of the child.

The photo was taken at the annual National Rifle Association (NRA) convention on April 15 and has been called a “set-up” by the boy’s family who say they did not give consent.

However, Reuters has hit back saying that their photographer Evelyn Hockstein “clearly introduced herself to adults as a photojournalist.”

Snip..

The boy’s father, Nathan Eckhart, accuses the photographer of setting “the photo up so that it looked like [his son] took the gun and was aiming it at her face.”
