Bloomberg's Paid "Volunteers" Are Telling Voters to Support Other Candidates

Bloomberg's Paid “Volunteers” Are Telling Voters to Support Other Candidates

"One organizer in Los Angeles told the Times, "When I text my friends—depending on the friend—a lot of people think it’s spam or my account was hacked. Once people realize it’s actually me who’s making these and it’s not spam, they kind of just figure I’m being paid for it."

At one point, another organizer texted his friends, "Sam Donaldson just nailed it: Mike Bloomberg is the president we need to unite our country!" using the exact wording suggested by the Bloomberg campaign. He promptly followed up with a text reading, "Please disregard, vote Bernie or Warren.""

Dow Jones Futures Fall Amid Microsoft Coronavirus Warning, Trump Comments After Stock Market Rally

Source: Investor's Business Daily

Dow Jones futures fell Wednesday, along with S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures. Microsoft (MSFT) warned it'll miss sales targets due to the coronavirus, following warnings from Apple (AAPL) and Mastercard (MA). President Donald Trump spoke on the coronavirus crisis.

The number of China coronavirus cases is still trending lower, with few outside of Hubei province. But Covid-19 cases continue to proliferate. South Korea and Italy coronavirus cases are rising rapidly, while a large number of countries reported their first case.

Microsoft said late Wednesday that it won't meet current-quarter revenue targets, citing the coronavirus impact on its PC suppliers and manufacturers in China. Microsoft stock fell 1.9% in late trade, pushing it below its 50-day line.

Last week, Apple said it would miss sales targets due the virus's impacts on iPhone production and demand in China. Mastercard said earlier this week that the coronavirus will likely hit Q1 and full-year revenue growth slightly.

Bloomberg wanted the old and sick to die to save money.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/bloomberg-elderly-cancer/?fbclid=IwAR3lg01G-xQmCk450LIV2AtNkQ60X35_hjujVf4t2lIyE1EHT7fLYSPKJxo

"Billionaire and Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg said in a 2011 video that elderly cancer patients should be denied treatment in order to cut health care costs. “All of these costs keep going up, nobody wants to pay any more money, and at the rate we’re going, health care is going to bankrupt us,” said Bloomberg, who was then New York City’s mayor.

“‘We’ve got to sit here and say which things we’re going to do, and which things we’re not, nobody wants to do that. Y’know, if you show up with prostate cancer, you’re 95 years old, we should say, ‘Go and enjoy. Have a nice [inaudible]. Live a long life. There’s no cure, and we can’t do anything.’ If you’re a young person, we should do something about it,” Bloomberg said in the video."

Since so many in this thread are trying to shift the context of this to prostate cancer, I'm adding the full transcript. It is NOT a discussion of prostate cancer.

Segal’s brother: …I apologize for bringing up conditions in New York City during this [visit], but in light of my brother’s death, I must tell you that we have, I know you know this, but from personal experience the overcrowding in the emergency rooms is insane. He was there for 73 hours [inaudible] —

Bloomberg: It’s going to get worse with the health care bill [the Affordable Care Act] and with the governor’s cutbacks, because the governor’s cutbacks — which, he may not have any choice in all fairness to the governor — but there’d be less money, some of these small hospitals will close, some of these other programs, and people will come to the HHC [New York Health and Hospitals Corporation] hospitals, and that’s —

Segal’s brother: — They’ll be there for days, [inaudible].

Bloomberg: Well, they try to decide what things they can fix right away and what things they can’t fix right away. If you’re bleeding, they’ll stop the bleeding, if you need an X-Ray, you’re going to have to wait. That’s just — all of these costs keep going up, nobody wants to pay any more money, and at the rate we’re going, health care is going to bankrupt us. So not only do we have a problem, it’s going to bankrupt us, and we’ve got to sit here and say which things we’re going to do and which things we’re not. Nobody wants to do that. If you show up with prostate cancer and you’re 95 years old, we should say, ‘Go and enjoy, have a nice [inaudible], lead a long life.’ There’s no cure and you can’t do anything. If you’re a young person, we should do something about it. Society’s not willing to do that yet. So we’re going to bankrupt us, and we’re not looking at prophylactic care. We’re not trying to take care of things so we don’t get sick. Nobody ever says thank you for keeping you from getting sick, they say thank you if you’re sick and we cure you […].

I wish someone would poll likely shifts in support.

I'm not certain Biden automatically gets the Warren, Buttigieg, and Klobuchar voters. I'm wondering which direction they might jump if their candidate drops out.

Five-thirty-eight is predicting a Sanders win of South Carolina AND Nevada now.

"Sanders is forecasted to win an average of 31% of the vote in South Carolina. In 80% of simulations, he wins between 16% and 48% of the vote. He has a 1 in 2 (53%) chance of winning the most votes, a bit better than the second most likely winner, Biden, who has a 1 in 3 (32%) chance."

"Sanders is forecasted to win an average of 40% of the vote in Nevada. In 80% of simulations, he wins between 22% and 58% of the vote. He has a 2 in 3 (68%) chance of winning the most votes, much better than the second most likely winner, Biden, who has a 1 in 7 (15%) chance."

An election-season resource list. Can you add to it?

As we roll into another election season, I’d like to find any useful election news or other relevant resources you may have come across. A few of my favorites include:

Electoral-vite.com - https://electoral-vote.com/ This site offers analysis,news, and statistics.

FiveThirtyEight - https://fivethirtyeight.com/ This is Nate Silver’s data heavy statistics and analysis site.

Media Matters - https://www.mediamatters.org/ This site turns its eye on the media and is a great source for calling out the often uncritical and occasionally outright lying news coverage.

Crooks and Liars - https://crooksandliars.com/ This is a snarkier, more video-heavy site analyzing coverage similar to Media Matters above.

Open Secrets - https://www.opensecrets.org/ A source for statistics and details on political donations. I find it is a great way to sniff out Republican donors and “fake” liberals who will crop up to claim support for Trump.

Wonkette - https://www.wonkette.com/ A joyfully snark-laden source for left-leaning political news.

Alternet.org - https://www.alternet.org/ A good source for progressive political opinion and news.

Crooked Media - https://crooked.com/ A source for liberal news and analysis from former Obama staffers. Their podcasts, especially Pod Save America and Pod Save the World are excellent.

Al Franken Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-al-franken-podcast/id1462195742 It’s just a joy to hear his voice again.

Democracy Now - https://www.democracynow.org/ A wonderful source for news the media ignores and far-left political opinion.

Democratic underground is a great site for news and comment. Are there any similar sites worth following?

Anybody know of a good site to survey the rightwing POV without having to wade through three or four sites to find the gamut of bulshit over there? I’m thinking Fox News, but I don’t know if there might not be a better aggregator out there. Maybe Real Clear Politics?

What are you reading, watching and listening to?

Dear George Washington University Law students....

If you have taken torts, criminal procedure or constitutional law from Jonathan Turley, you are owed a refund.
