LaMouffette's JournalA way to purge the Supreme Court of the radical extremists: Impose a retirement age of 70.
That would get rid of the following corrupt justices right off the bat:
Samuel Alito, 74 years old
Clarence Thomas, 75 years old
And get rid of John Roberts (69 years old) next year.
Sadly, this would also retire Justice Sotomayor (age 69), so maybe, since I'm dreaming here, for female justices, we could make the retirement age 75, since women tend to live longer than men.
This may seem like a radical idea (especially to Alito, Thomas, and Roberts), but the majority of US states have set a mandatory age of retirement for judges. Further, the constitutionality of mandatory retirement for judges was upheld by the Supreme Court itself. From the National Center for State Courts:
The U.S. Supreme Court held that the continued use of mandatory judicial retirement ages in Missouri did not violate either the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) or the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution given that “[t]he Missouri people rationally could conclude that the threat of deterioration at age 70 is sufficiently great, and the alternatives for removal from office sufficiently inadequate, that they will require all judges to step aside at that age.”

What's good for the goose is good for those ganders on the Supreme Court who believe that they (and Donald Trump, too, natch') are above the law.
Here's a question on abortion for the Supreme Court: Could a woman in Florida who became pregnant as a result of
rape or incest, or who needs an abortion for medical reasons, get an abortion under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, which states:
“a person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.”
I'm sure anti-abortionists would say a woman has the right to kill a rapist but not an innocent fetus resulting from that rape.
But if, in a medical emergency situation, the fetus is endangering a woman's health or her very life, I wonder if this could apply. Shouldn't she be allowed to defend herself from this threat?

corporate executives in to testify at a Congressional Hearing and have Katie wallop them over the head with facts. And find a way to get this particular Congressional hearing broadcast on the major networks so that there will be a greater chance of the don't-pay-attention-to-politics crowd actually seeing it.
Maybe the Congressional hearing could be held and then President Biden could give a televised speech and show recorded clips of the hearing with Katie bashing the corporate executives over their record profits at the expense of American consumers.
Because if nothing is done to expose greedflation, people will just keep on blaming Biden.
With many (most?) American voters, the presidential campaign is nothing but a popularity contest. Policy stances do not
matter. What a candidate has or has not accomplished does not matter. Whether a candidate will uphold the Constitution or shred it to little bits does not matter. Whether a candidate is a good, kind, intelligent person or an evil, cruel dumbass does not matter.
The diehard Trumpies love Donald Trump. That is all that matters to them and pretty much nothing can convince them that Trump is not their Jesus but is, in fact, the devil incarnate.
And they have been trained to hate Joe Biden and all other Democrats, especially Democrats who are strong, intelligent women, like Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Elizabeth Warren, Katie Porter, et al.
So, what to do? I'm just thinking out loud here. What . . . can . . . we . . . do?
We can talk ourselves blue in the face about Joe Biden's and the Democrats amazing accomplishments, and it won't move the needle one bit. They will still hate Joe and all Democrats.
Hmm . . . getting what they wished for on abortion has moved the needle for more moderate, more educated Republican voters. So has the ethical pickle the Republican politicians have found themselves in regarding IVF: "Life begins at conception! Embryos are children! I support IVF! Wait, what's that? IVF involves destroying unneeded embryos? Well, er, um . . . Hunter's laptop! Hillary's emails!"
I'm thinking the only thing that might do the trick is to let the Republicans be the dog catching the car again and let them destroy three things that would hurt their voters tremendously: 1. social security; 2. Medicare; and 3. Obamacare. Let them break these things, too, and make them own it. That might, just might, open the Trumpies' eyes and see just where voting for Trump and Republicans in general will get them. Maybe.
And then, as usual, we Democrats can come in and clean up their mess, restoring social security, Medicare, and Obamacare.
The problem with this, of course, is the Republicans' uncanny ability to shift the blame to Democrats. This would have to be done somehow so that they can't slither their way out from under the blame.
Plus, allowing them to destroy these things would hurt millions of people until the Dems were able to restore them, so really, not a good plan. Not a good plan at all.
So, I'm stumped and despairing. Think I had better go take a long walk somewhere beautiful and try not to think about our democracy being on the edge of destruction for an hour or so.

If there are any serious and patriotic Republican politicians left, the most courageous, patriotic thing for them to do
would be to form a third party, maybe call it the New Conservatives, and run their own candidate in November to siphon off votes from Trump.
They will not win the presidency, but they will prevent Trump from winning it. They OWE us this much after subjecting us to the nightmare that is Trump for the past eight years.
Even if they lose the next four presidencies, it would be the only way to salvage the remnants of the party formerly known as "Republican."

Do they not realize that this is just more proof that he literally could not give a shit if even his own supporters live or die?
They should also be reminded that in November 2020, he left thousands of people stranded in freezing temperatures at two different rallies by his campaign's effed-up attempts to shuttle people by bus to and from his clown shows.

A terrifying thought: If Trump is reelected, he will once again have access to our nation's top-secret documents.
If he is not held accountable for stealing all those boxes of top-secret documents at the end of his first presidency, just think what he will do once he is president again with full access and full immunity.
I think President Biden and all Congressional Dems up for reelection in 2024 need to be shouting this horrifying possibility from the rooftops.

Could it be that the Repubes have finally realized that Donald Trump is toxic to the Repube Party and will likely not only NOT beat Joe Biden in 2024, but may very well be decked out in a cute orange jumpsuit for his next mug shot?
Has the wealthy Repub donor class decided to kick Trump to the curb and get behind Nikki Haley, a kinder, gentler, more electable fascist?
I think that if the Supreme Court does not overturn Colorado's ruling, then that will show that the Repubes' love affair with Trump is over. Best of all—for the Repube Party—the MAGA Republicans in Congress can put on a dramatic show of outrage over Trump being treated so horribly, so unfairly, and still appeal to the genuinely outraged Trump-humping voters, while secretly rejoicing that the Vulgar Orange One has been dispatched without them having to lift a finger.
If Trump gets the Republican nomination, Nikki Haley should Jill Stein his ass and run as an independent.
Not likely she would do this because it would mean the absolute end of her political career, but some Republican conservative who actually cares about the Constitution and democracy more than his or her political career, if one actually exists, should do this. Split the ticket on the Mango Menace, just like the Repubes are trying to do to the Dems with Jill Stein.
