Does Patrick McHenry want the Speaker's job permanently?

He's been a jerk on occasion, but his bowtie and diminutive stature might endear him to enough members who might be willing to do business with him.

Does he have the reputation of an honorable jerk?

I propose a vote by Congress to remove Trump's disability.

Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment gives Congress the power to remove Trump's disability for having engaged in insurrection by a two-thirds vote in each house.

Kevin McCarthy would be unwilling to allow the House of Representatives to take up the matter.

Chuck Schumer, however, might well consider letting the measure come to the floor of the Senate.

I would support any Democratic member of Congress who is willing to introduce such a resolution.

Republicans will scoff that there is no need to put such a matter to a vote since they deny the fact that their beloved Trump even engaged in insurrection.

For the singular purpose of settling the question of whether Trump's name should be allowed to appear on the ballot, Republicans ought to be encouraged to proceed with a vote so that the cloud over Trump's eligibility might be lifted.

Furthermore, keep pushing for it, since sufficient votes in favor will never be there. It would be helpful to be able to say that the People decided Trump's eligibility and not the courts, even when the courts are ultimately asked to do so.

Apologies if this has already been proposed elsewhere and I missed it.

Can Trump be banned from the primary ballot?

Judge Luttig has stated his viewpoint that secretaries of state are empowered to ban Trump from the ballot based on Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment.

I presume that would include the primary ballot, but I welcome any clarification on this.

I know that Beto O'Rourke has been at the University of Chicago lately.

Did his engagement with the University prevent him from commenting on gun policy?

Just wondering why I haven't seen him lately.

Did you see Conor Lamb with Stephanie Ruhle just now?

He's so fresh-faced and articulate.

I'm very glad to have him visible as an MSNBC commentator.

He's on the Democratic Party bench for future great things.

Rate this joke:

What did the warden say to Jacob Chansley as he was checking out of prison.

"Your hat sir."

This joke:

A. Shines brightly in the humor firmament.

B. Tell it in the writer's room and we'll see.

C. Meh. Keep trying.

D. I don't get it.

Suggestion for future White House press briefings.

Don't try to answer questions right away. Just take down all the questions and start the next briefing with the answers to the questions from last time. That way you can thoroughly research and craft answers and have the legal and political advisers properly clear them. Poor Karine is like a baseball player up at bat who the pitcher keeps deliberately throwing balls at for the sole purpose of injuring her.

There's something you don't see every day.

Paul Gosar and AOC having what appears to be a friendly chat seated side by side.

Or is he just stalking her again?
