"URGES"

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Easter Sunday will look a bit different in the Mid-South as local leaders urge residents to worship online or in the privacy of their own homes during the coronavirus pandemic.

On one of the biggest church-going weekends of the year, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves wants people to worship and celebrate Easter at home. But ultimately, Gov. Reeves left the choice up to the people.

“In America and Mississippi, we’re not going to be the kind of government that shuts down worships,” he said.

Federal stockpile of protective equipment nearly depleted, HHS says

Federal stockpile of protective equipment nearly depleted, HHS says the House Oversight Committee released documents showing that about 90% of all the personal protective equipment in the national stockpile has been distributed.

WASHINGTON — The Strategic National Stockpile is nearly out of the N95 respirators, surgical masks, face, shields, gowns and other medical supplies desperately needed to protect front-line medical workers treating coronavirus patients.

The Department of Health and Human Services told the Associated Press Wednesday that the federal stockpile was in the process of deploying all remaining personal protective equipment in its inventory. A small percentage will be kept in reserve to support federal response efforts, the department said.

Deployed, confisgated by fed & auctioned or sent to Russia?

And no mention of replenishing equipment.

Here's the thing: We know infected people are asymptomatic while shedding virus & NEJM says ONLY 43.8% patients present with fever until the disease progresses * patients' health deteriorates!

Trump administration has issued new guidelines to make it easier for essential workers who have been exposed to COVID-19 get back to work — if they have no symptoms.

Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, announced at the White House that essential employees, such as health care and food supply workers, who have been within 6 feet of a confirmed or suspected case of the virus can return to work under certain circumstances if they are not experiencing symptoms.

Under the new guidelines for essential workers, the CDC recommends that exposed employees take their temperatures before their shifts, wear face masks and practice social distancing at work. They also are advised to stay home if they are ill, not share headsets or other objects used near the face and refrain from congregating in crowded break rooms.

Employers are asked to take exposed workers’ temperatures and assess symptoms before allowing them to return to work, aggressively clean work surfaces, send workers home if they get sick and increase air exchange in workplaces.

Arts organizations and other venues with lighting and video capability are invited to join the campaign

March 26, more than 130 landmark and historic buildings all over the United Kingdom were lit blue as a salute to healthcare workers battling the COVID-19 global crisis. Now, the #LightItBlue campaign is crossing the pond and will appear in cities across the United States on Thursday, April 9, at 8:00 p.m. local time, creating a national show of support and gratitude to those essential workers caring for us on the front lines and creating a universal symbol of solidarity and hope.

Buildings, landmarks, and other venues – including arts organizations such as museums, theaters, concert halls and others – that have the capability are invited to light their buildings blue and/or share the #LightItBlue logo and the following message on a video screen: “Thank you to all those fighting on the front lines against COVID-19!” In order to adhere to stay-home orders across the country, only buildings which can be accessed remotely or at which someone is on-site as an essential worker should participate.

Propublica- Yes, Trump Hotels Do Appear to Qualify for Coronavirus Bailout Benefits

[link:https://www.propublica.org/article/trump-inc-hotels-do-appear-to-qualify-for-coronavirus-bailout-benefits|

President Donald Trump’s hotels in D.C., New York and Chicago all seem to qualify for benefits from the coronavirus bailout. So does his winery lodge in Virginia

Last month’s $2 trillion bailout bill barred President Donald Trump, his family or other officials from benefiting from one of the law’s giant loan programs. But as reporters noticed, there was no such language included for other elements of the bailout. Some provisions of the bailout are particularly beneficial to businesses like Trump’s.

A Nurse Bought Protective Supplies for Her Colleagues Using GoFundMe. The Hospital Suspended Her.

She raised more than $12,000 to buy and distribute protective gear for her colleagues, who say they felt inadequately protected against COVID-19. How a confrontation in one of the nation’s Coronavirus hotspots illustrates a troubling national trend.

Olga Matievskaya and her fellow intensive care nurses at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey were so desperate for gowns and masks to protect themselves from the coronavirus that they turned to the online fundraising site GoFundMe to raise money.

The donations flowed in — more than $12,000 — and Matievskaya used some of them to buy about 500 masks, 4,000 shoe covers and 150 jumpsuits. She and her colleagues at the hospital celebrated protecting themselves and their patients from the spread of the virus.

But rather than thanking the staff, hospital administrators on Saturday suspended Matievskaya for distributing “unauthorized” protective gear.

Emphasis is mine.

Yale psychiatrist Bandy Lee: Trump's "deadly" briefings display "anti-human" psychology

[link:https://www.salon.com/2020/04/08/yale-psychiatrist-bandy-lee-trumps-deadly-briefings-display-anti-human-psychology/|

psychiatrist Bandy X. Lee is leading a group of mental health professionals in urging a congressional intervention into President Donald Trump's coronavirus response.

Dr. Lee, a forensic psychiatrist at the Yale School of Medicine who also teaches at Yale Law School, has sounded the alarm over Trump's mental health for years. Lee heads the World Mental Health Coalition, whose membership she says includes thousands of mental health professionals. The group has convened multiple panels to highlight concerns about the president's handling of the country and the coronavirus pandemic. The organization recently issued a "prescription for survival," calling for federal officials to take unprecedented action to block the president from leading public health policy during the crisis.

Kansas Republicans overturn governor’s order restricting crowd sizes in churches

The decision came after GOP state Attorney General Derek Schmidt warned that the order is unconstitutional. Schmidt declared the order to be “sound public-health advice that Kansans should follow” but advised state police not to enforce it.

WTF is wrong with these people???

Are they so weak minded that they can't stay home for a few Sundays? If I went to a church that was encouraging attendance during pandemic, I'd find another church! 🤬
