Deputy caught on dashcam body slamming man during arrest terminated

Deputy caught on dashcam body slamming man during arrest terminated

A Paulding County deputy who can be seen on dashcam video body slamming a man during an arrest last year has been terminated, the sheriff's office confirmed Wednesday.

The agency told 11Alive's Cody Alcorn that Deputy Michael McMaster had been terminated for policy violations. However, they didn't elaborate on the violations, but said it wasn't directly related to the body slamming incident. The sheriff's office added the GBI is still investigating the situation.

Dashcam video of the incident from March 2022 was released last week. It shows the deputy stopping a pedestrian who, the deputy said later, looked similar to the description of someone who’d been breaking into cars in the area.

In the video, the man appears to ignore the deputy’s commands as the deputy stands behind him and tries to handcuff him.

Deputy rapes woman at traffic stop and tells her she won’t be charged, Tennessee cops say

A deputy raped a woman during a traffic stop and now faces charges, Tennessee officials say.

Jonathan Kelly, now a former Perry County deputy, was charged with one count of aggravated rape and one count of official misconduct by a grand jury on Wednesday, Feb. 22, according to a Feb. 28 news release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. He was arrested on Monday.

McClatchy News reached out to officials about when Kelly had left the sheriff’s office and did not immediately receive a response.

Officials said they began investigating Kelly, 31, in December 2021 after receiving a complaint that he sexually assaulted a woman during a traffic stop.

Agents found Kelly told the woman she would not be charged with a crime if she engaged in sexual contact with him, according to officials.

44-year-old man arrested for series of bombing incidents in Fresno

44-year-old man arrested for series of bombing incidents in Fresno

The Fresno Police Department has arrested a man in connection to a series of bombing incidents in Fresno. On Tuesday, police said that 44-year-old Scott Anderson was arrested for seven incidents that started on December 13.

Authorities say that one of the incidents happened at the Fresno County probation office, where a bomb went off inside one of the patrol units. Six of the incidents involved cars, and the seventh involved a mailbox. Anderson had left the Fresno area on February 23. On February 24, he was arrested during a traffic stop in Riverside along with his partner. Due to the nature of the arrest, nearby residents had to be evacuated as a precaution.

Three search warrants were done at homes. Officers found 11 illegal guns, hundreds of rounds of ammo, nearly 90 pounds of drugs and $50,000 in cash. During their investigation, police say there could be ties between Anderson and a White supremacist group. Anderson has since been booked in the Fresno County Jail on a no-bail status.
