Two weeks ago, former President Donald Trump angrily accused FBI agents of confiscating his passports while executing the search at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
"Wow! In the raid by the FBI of Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three Passports (one expired), along with everything else," Trump posted to Truth Social at the time. "This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never seen before in our Country. Third World!"
Ultimately, Justice Department officials returned his passports. But as part of a legal filing late Tuesday night, attorneys for the government explained there was an actual, valid reason why the passports were seized, according to Newsweek and that reason further incriminates Trump.
"The agency said the former president's claim the FBI agents had improperly taken three of his passports while looking for sensitive material removed from the White House at his Florida home is 'incorrect,'" reported Ewan Palmer. "The Department of Justice explained that the passports were seized by the FBI as they were held in a desk drawer in Trump's office which also included classified documents, and therefore within the scope of the search warrant and relevant to the investigation."
"The government seized the contents of a desk drawer that contained classified documents and governmental records commingled with other documents," explained prosecutors in the filing. "The other documents included two official passports, one of which was expired, and one personal passport, which was expired. The location of the passports is relevant evidence in an investigation of unauthorized retention and mishandling of national defense information."

A pregnant Texas woman says she has received a second traffic ticket within a month after claiming that her unborn child allows her to drive in the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane.
Last month, Plano resident Brandy Bottone got a ticket for driving in the HOV lane.
Bottone gained massive attention after claiming that Texass new anti-abortion laws mean her fetus should count as a passenger.
The Dallas County District Attorney's Office agreed and dismissed the case.
In an interview with the Dallas Morning News, Bottone says she recently received a second ticket for the same reason at the same location.
She said she wasn't trying to prove a point; she was just trying to get where she needed to go.
Because the matter is unsettled, she thought she could still drive in an HOV lane.
The Texas legislature is set to clarify the issue of when a fetus counts as a person in its next session.
No word yet on how the DA's office will respond to the new citation.
Bottone has since given birth to a baby girl, according to the Dallas Morning News.

FEDERAL AUTHORITIES BELIEVE that members of former President Donald Trumps staff may have knowingly concealed or moved a treasure trove of classified documents stashed at Mar-a-Lago as the Department of Justice ramped up its investigation into Trumps illegal possession of sensitive government property, a new filing reveals.
The bombshell document, released shortly before midnight Tuesday, provides deeper insight into the steps taken by the Department of Justice leading up to the unprecedented Aug. 8 raid on Trumps Florida compound and suggests willful and deliberate attempts by Trumps team to withhold crucial materials from the federal government even after a Trump lawyer signed an affidavit on June 3 confirming no classified material remained at Mar-a-Lago.
According to the filing, some of the materials discovered during the most recent raid were so classified that even the FBI counterintelligence personnel and DOJ attorneys conducting the review required additional clearances before they were permitted to review certain documents. Among the documents uncovered by FBI agents on Aug. 8 were three classified documents found inside desks in Trumps personal office, as well as 13 boxes containing an 100 additional documents with classification markings ranging from CONFIDENTIAL to TOP SECRET a discovery which, the filing notes, was double the amount of materials turned over by Trumps lawyers on June 3.

Donald Trump was mocked after he asked his followers on Truth Social Why are people so mean?
The one-term president, who has been infamously rude to his political opponents and critics over the years, asked the question during a 60-post spree on his social media website.
Mr Trump, the subject of a recent FBI search at Mar-a-Lago, also shared a string of QAnon-linked conspiracy theory accounts as well as 4chan message boards.
The ex-president posted a series of memes, retruths, and angry statements in the wake of the raid by agents who seized classified material at the Florida estate.
The president has yet to formally explain why he had documents against the wishes of the National Archives, but has suggested that Joe Biden, who could face Mr Trump in 2024, knew about the raid.
