Wicked Blue's JournalThe Onion is sold to new firm known as Global Tetrahedron
Axios
The Onion's owner said on Thursday that the satirical news site has been sold to a new Chicago-based firm created by four digital media veterans who are fans of the publication.
Why it matters: G/O Media, which owned The Onion, has been unraveling its portfolio of digital media sites amid pressures of the digital ad market.
Zoom in: In a staff memo, G/O CEO Jim Spanfeller said the new owners, a firm known as Global Tetrahedron, have "a profound love for The Onion and comedy based content." He said the entire staff will stay on, and the company will remain in Chicago.
The acquirer's name matches the name The Onion has used for a fictional corporation in past articles and its humor book, "Our Dumb Century."

Whistleblower says Boeing should stop production of 787 Dreamliner due to safety issue
Source: NBC
A Boeing engineer-turned-whistleblower who contends that the aerospace giants 787 Dreamliner is unsafe to fly due to assembly flaws doubled down on his claims Tuesday, saying that the plane could fall apart and drop to the ground midflight unless the alleged safety problems are addressed.
Boeing disputed the claims on Tuesday, saying the plane is safe and the company is fully confident in the 787 Dreamliner.
Boeing quality engineer Sam Salehpour spoke to NBC Nightly News in his first on-camera interview since raising his allegations publicly last week. He said the company has yet to properly address tiny nonconforming gaps found in multiple planes after two sections of their fuselages were joined together during assembly. Salehpour said such safety issues could lead to catastrophic outcomes.
...
Salehpour is expected to testify before a U.S. Senate subcommittee Wednesday.

Boo-hoo Dep't: Trump has been 'deserted,' former federal prosecutor says
By Matt Arco | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
Donald Trump had loyal staffers with him inside the courtroom for the first day of his criminal trial Monday.
But some people were noticeably absent from the room: His family.
I have rarely seen a defendant facing trial alone with no family, at least one person, in the courtroom for him. Its a sad commentary for a former president with four grown children & a wife, all of whom seem to have deserted him in the moment, Joyce Alene, a former U.S. attorney under Barack Obama, posted to X, formerly Twitter.

Are voters finally calling B.S. on Trump? Here's latest polling
By Matt Arco | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
About half of Pennsylvania swing voters arent sold on former President Donald Trumps shifting positions on abortion, according to Axios latest Engagious/Sago focus groups.
That could spell big trouble for him come November as Pennsylvania is expected to be one of the half-dozen states or so that will decide the outcome of the election.
Interviews with 11 voters who swung from former President Trump in 2016 to President Biden in 2020 suggest the security of access to abortion will determine who they support in November, per Axios.
This comes after Arizonas state Supreme Court ruling that permits enforcement of an 1864 law effectively banning abortion in the state. Trump has said he thinks states should decide on the issue and later said he wouldnt sign a national abortion ban.

What is the most famous painting of an eclipse? The Moona Lisa!

How do you organize an eclipse party? You planet!
Teachers will not be letting their students outside to view the eclipse. Because they need to protect their pupils!
I was told I could view the eclipse through a colander. I think I strained my eyes
I sold a bunch of defective eclipse glasses to some gullible people, but Im not worried. I dont think theyll see me ever again.

Major mail delivery delays raise concerns about voting in the 2024 elections
NBC
April 6, 2024, 7:00 AM EDT
By Shannon Pettypiece
In Virginia, hundreds of veterans had their colon cancer screening tests invalidated after the results took months to arrive by mail. An Atlanta college student missed an academic trip to Ghana when their passport with two-day shipping took a month to show up. A bride in Texas had to rent a dress for her wedding after hers spent weeks stuck in a Houston postal facility.
Across the country, residents and businesses have been reporting widespread slowdowns in mail and package delivery by the U.S. Postal Service. The delays have become so persistent that members of Congress have gotten involved, urging the Postal Service to drastically correct course and raising concern about what impact the disruptions could have on mail-in ballots in the upcoming election.
The delays appear to largely stem from a new system the Postal Service began rolling out last fall that will eventually funnel all the nations letters and packages through a consolidated network of 60 regional distribution centers similar to the airlines hub-and-spoke model. The change is part of a wider $40 billion, 10-year overhaul of the network that Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has said will reduce costs, improve reliability and make the Postal Service more competitive. But in some instances, the plan has done the opposite, according to the Office of the Inspector General for the Postal Service, members of Congress and Postal Service advocacy groups.
Its just a dumpster fire right now, said Leo Raymond, a former Postal Service manager and managing director of Mailers Hub, an industry group for direct mail companies. He said his members have had everything from customer bills to strategically timed marketing material caught up in the delays. If youre a business, youre going to be discouraged from using the mail because you want your stuff to actually get there.

Has anyone else's Verizon internet and cellular service gone down today?
Ours was out for a couple of hours in the NJ shore area. Restored around 2:45 pm.
I found an outage map online that showed outages around NJ, NY, Philadelphia and Washington DC.
https://istheservicedown.com/problems/verizon-fios/map
I wonder what's causing this.
