UPDATING LIVE: General Assembly adopts Gaza resolution calling for immediate and sustained 'humanitarian truce'
Source: United Nations Website
The United Nations General Assembly on Friday adopted a resolution calling for an immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce between Israeli forces and Hamas militants in Gaza. It also demands continuous, sufficient and unhindered provision of lifesaving supplies and services for civilians trapped inside the enclave, as news reports suggest Israel has expanded ground operations and intensified it bombing campaign.

Gilad Erdan, Ambassador of Israel to the UN, said in response to the resolution passing that today is a day that will go down in infamy.
We have all witnessed that the UN holds not even one ounce of legitimacy, he said. The UN is committed to ensuring further atrocity. According to the family of nations, Israel has no right to defend itself.
There are no talks or discussions to be held with Hamas, he said, adding that Israel will not sit idly by to let them commit atrocities again. The resolution does not mention Hamas once, as if the war started on its own.
What is going on here? he asked, questioning whether the goal was to tie Israels hands. The only way to destroy Hamas is to root them out. Why are you not holding Hamas accountable?
We know there is no humanitarian crisis in accordance with international humanitarian law, he said, noting that every statistic comes from Hamas about information about Gaza.
Anyone interested in preventing violence should call on Hamas to lay down their arms, turn themselves in and return all hostages, he said.
If this were to happen, the war would end immediately, he said. This is a dark day for the UN and mankind. Israel will defend itself and will do what must be done to eradicate Hamas capabilities and bring the hostages home.

CAIRO/JERUSALEM, Oct 27 (Reuters) - A missile struck a medical facility in an Egyptian Red Sea resort town near the Israeli border early on Friday, injuring six people, Egypt's Al Qahera News reported, and Israel's military said it was aware of a security incident in the area.

Hamas is but one iteration of a predictable and foretold resistance.
While the calls to "obliterate" Hamas, (which in reality is nothing more than a radical islamic group who opportunistically seized control of Gaza) are understandable and justified, it does nothing to solve the long term conflicts in this region. Until the basic human rights of the people of "Palestine" are met and a future full of promise is realized, they will cling to the belief that only through armed conflict can they achieve their political aims. The world needs to offer these people hope.
But given the current situation, I cannot see that there is very much hope to be offered. Hamas will be neutralized; but then what? I fear that the next iteration will spring up in the vaccum of effective leadership and the cycle will continue again and again until one of these groups is completey wiped from the earth and they will be but a chapter to be studied by furure historians.
Took me about three hours to read this.
I am posting without comment and will return later to see what others think; if you care to take the time to read it...
Origins and Evolution of the Palestine Problem: 1917-1947 (Part I)
The origins of the Palestine problem as an international issue, however, lie in events occurring towards the end of the First World War. These events led to a League of Nations decision to place Palestine under the administration of Great Britain as the Mandatory Power under the Mandates System adopted by the League. In principle, the Mandate was meant to be in the nature of a transitory phase until Palestine attained the status of a fully independent nation, a status provisionally recognized in the Leagues Covenant, but in fact the Mandates historical evolution did not result in the emergence of Palestine as an independent nation.

Everyone seems to think this thing (McCarthy) is funny...it is chaos
And if we can learn from one thing from history, chaos is NOT a good thing.
Chaos gave rise to Hitler...
If for one second, people here think that tRump could never make his way to the speaker-ship, they are delusional.

Oxford School shooter pleads guilty
Source: Detroit Free Press
Teenager Ethan Crumbley, who 11 months ago penned in his journal, "I will cause the biggest school shooting in Michigan's history. I have fully mentally lost it," pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree murder and terrorism charges for the bloodshed he vowed to carry out at Oxford High School four days after his parents bought him a gun.
Crumbley dropped a bombshell in admitting to his crimes, telling the judge that he gave his father money to buy him the gun that he used in the mass shooting, and that the gun was easily accessible contradicting his parents' claims that the gun was securely stored.
"It was not locked," Ethan Crumbley said in court.
James and Jennifer Crumbley are charged with involuntary manslaughter over allegations involving their son's access to the gun.
