Grumpy Old Guy
Grumpy Old Guy's JournalAnother bucket list shot for me.
This is the sun rising behind the Angels Gate Lighthouse, one of two lighthouses that mark the entrances to L.A. Harbor. I've been wanting to get this shot for about a year now. FYI, alignments like this can be found using apps like Planit! or The Photographers Ephemeris.
We bought a new lens this week.
Our recent trip to Maui convinced me that I had to find a lightweight, long zoom lens for my wonderful wife Legger. She has serious shoulder issues, plus she hates to change lenses. We got our new Tamron 18-400mm zoom on Tuesday, which is the same lens that Peggy has used quite a bit. I was wondering where we could go to test it out when the neighborhood Cooper's Hawk obliged us by visiting his favorite tree. I did quite a bit of work on this file, but I am thrilled with the results.
I haven't posted for a while.
I had cataract surgery about a week ago, and I've been taking it easy since then. I've been giving my eyeballs a rest, and haven't shot anything. Here are some older pics that I felt like posting, other "reflection" shots that I could have entered in the last contest.
I may be sitting out the next contest. I've been living in Southern California for nearly fifty years, and don't have many good autumn shots.

More Maui Pics
Here are a few more pics from our recent trip to Maui. Some of these were shot by my lovely wife Legger. There are still a few more to come.
We just spent a week in Maui.
More to come.
Spoiler alert: This was the best shot of the week IMHO.
More roadscape photos
I had a really hard time picking my best images for the "Roadscape" photo contest. Please indulge me and allow me to share some of the other pics I was also considering. (Do NOT tell me if you think I picked wrong).
Please note that these images were not reduced in size for the contest rules. They are all original size.
