RFCalifornia
RFCalifornia's JournalI have a question for all of the US Veterans
I sell to a number of customers and and have previously sold to State and Federal agencies
At one point I was selling to the the Coast Guard but after 9/11 they required me to get a clearance, which I didn't want to do (too much of a fan of 420, and there were better accounts to have that didn't require it)
Anywho, around November/December, the Coast Guard would go on a serious buying spree. They told me their budget would be shrunk if they didn't use it all. So we sold product at list price, and they didn't care.
Is this one of the reasons why our military budget is so bloated?
Is this why the military buys equipment they didn't even ask for?
Capitalism isn't the solution, it IS the problem
Any system that rewards greed over communitarianism is a problem
Any system that puts the individual above the community is a problem
Why do you think we have so many antivaxxers and antimaskers?
This isn't just because they want to "own the libs"
It's because our flavor of economics rewards the individual over the community, so anything that individual wants to do is favored over what could help the community
So to assert your individuality, even at the cost of your own life or others, is considered being a "maverick"
So...Squid Game...what do you think?
I see very little difference between it an reality
The only being the set design
The last time Floyd got together and played "Comfortably Numb" for Live8
&list=RDMMAnyone out there ever get seriously into Brazilian Jazz/Rock?
I mean, there is not the demarcation line there is here
But like Milton Nascamiento, Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Lo Borges, or even Sergio Mendes?
As a Polish/Dutch-American, descended from immigrants (like many of us) I ask...
That is the "Polish Soul"?
Is it like the "Russian Soul"?
Stairway to Heaven -- was it about Hobbits or was it stream of consciousness?
I could see it read as both
As well as Taurus' "Spirit" thrown in
With some other stuff
This was my life before my 20s
I couldn't concentrate on anything
You know how those New Agers and Buddhists want to be aware of everything?
Well, this was ME
Aware of every little distraction in the universe
Not just aware of what was going around me, but what I thought about each element that distracted me
Then I discovered drugs
I swear, the best ADHD drug is nicotine
Don't smoke or vape
If you must use this, use the gum or patch
Even still
Anyway sometimes I would Hyperfocus
Like really get interested in this stupid thing that only I cared about, like the Beatles or potato bugs
THAT is what ADHD is like
I'm doing well, but when I was kid, it was HELL
Everyone wanted me to be something I wasn't
The school district required me to be on ritalin in order to attend (this was 1970s)
My "psychologist" 'Mister Beale' would pin me down on the floor while I screamed and cried
Eventually I would relent, and would take my seat
Anyone here a fan of "Ask a Mortician" or Caitlin Doughty?
She hits the nail on the head every one of her YT broadcasts
"Physical Graffiti" -- the first time I heard this
It was 1986 or 7
I was at a boarding school in South Lake Tahoe, CA
I was exploring music, as was everyone
Some folk took a punk direction
Some took a metal direction
I took a deep rock direction
I learned to love Led Zep, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Yes, The Stones, and Black Sabbath
Not to mention some other great bands I was exposed to
But our cook gave me this 90 minute cassette, that had all of Led Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti" on it
The song that really grabbed me was "The Rover"
Mein GOTT! This was true blending of metal, jazz, rock and blues
As I rode the Greyhound back to the Bay Area, this album, plus the ganja I had smoked before the ride, drove me home
