Seems a rather relevant thing to research prior to going into an melodramatic rant. But as it's inconvenient to do so and often interferes with our biases, I can certainly understand your lack of doing so.
My empathy for logical fallacies, laziness of research and knee-jerk reasons never died... as it never existed in the first place.
