Where the GOP of old had a serious argument that "that government governs best which governs least" built on the premise that social help is good but the government is an inefficient way of doing it, that's no longer the case. Those guys could be wrong, but they weren't necessarily simply evil.

Now they believe that the only functions of government are stopping abortion and persecuting LGBT people. If those are your standards, Trump has really been making progress.
