It was about the political rise of Fiorello LaGuardia against the corrupt Democratic machine in New York City.

Ont of the songs was called "Little Tin Box" in which a litany of corrupt politicians explained to the authorities how they amassed their fortunes. It seems that every day they put their spare change in a little tin box. As one told the judge, these savings "mounted up, Your Honor, bit by bit."

The chorus then chanted "Up Your Honor, bit by bit."
