(38,343 posts)...so she gets the heat from everyone who thinks Franken deserved a fair hearing in the face of a conservative ratfucking op. Possibly to knock out a 2020 presidential rival, or merely overly-hasty reaction. I don't know if she ran it by the party leadership, but yes or no, she took the lead, and she has to take the opprobrium from those who consider it a bad (really bad) call.
That's a "we have to move on" thing too, now, because Gillibrand can't change that at this stage, and people who think she did the Republicans' dirty work for them are going to keep thinking it. Singing her praises won't change that. The only thing that can change it is action -- Being as sharp a Trump/Republican opponent as Al was.
If she's the candidate in 2020 I'll vote for her, but before that she'll need to run in the primary. And for that, she's in a deficit. Already has points against.
