(151,370 posts)My first real girlfriend had no trouble at all communicating. We were very young and very new to all of that stuff. Right away, she made it clear that all that stuff was very interesting to her, but that she was uncomfortable with moving too fast in the direction we were heading. Basically, she said, "We'll probably do lots of stuff, but I don't want to be pushed."
We liked each other a lot. So, I heard what she said, and understood it. We were together as a couple for two years, and we did "do lots of stuff." But, only when we were both comfortable with it. Both. It all made perfect sense to me, even as a 15 year old boy. That's when I adopted the "enthusiastic consent" rule. It has always been the rule for me. It has worked out just fine.
