(985 posts)I'm not saying that you should assume that people are the same because of their race, but Booker vs. Trump would play like Obama 2.0 vs. Trump, and that's a big win. Get a Joe Biden like white rust belt VP to fill out the ticket - Sherrod Brown, Tim Ryan - it should be a slam dunk.
I know that some progressives dislike Booker because of some corporate ties, but 2018 & 2020 aren't just about winning, but about rolling up the largest possible coat tails in Congress, governorships & state legislatures so that we can undo gerrymandering as much as possible with the redistricting after the 2020 census. My choice for nominee is whoever appears that they can help generate the largest possible wave.
Booker genuinely did choose to live in the projects during his time as Mayor of Newark. It wasn't a stunt - he lived it. He has the passion and articulateness to really draw a following. He played football at Stanford, which should play well. Of the potential candidates, at this time, he seems to me like one that could win the most decisively.
