this build up seems strange to me. Almost like a spigot was turned off for 6 years and then it opened again.

There's no rhyme or reason to it that I can see. Companies aren't going wild with new tech, retail giants are closing, and we haven't got to Mars yet.

Seems like splitting stock and buy backs are doing the job they were intended to. Make the wealthy wealthier.
