8. This was interesting because of the comparative proposed evacuation zones in the SF Bay Area

Basically when there was thought to be a tsunami threat, the recommendation was to evacuate homes within three blocks of the coast, and within five blocks of the bay. This was interesting because I had always assumed that homes on the coast were more vulnerable to tsunami. Perhaps the more gradual slope of land around the bay, vs the usual cliffs along the coast, played a factor. However as I recall there are some quite flat sections of the coastline, most notably the outer Sunset district in SF.

Strange!
