Invading Tatars broke through the Great Wall of China in 1550, followed by the Mongols a century later. Hadrian's wall in England was breached by northern Pict tribes in the third century. The Berlin Wall stood for 30 years as the concrete manifestation of communism over the democracy, but ordinary citizens tore it down in 1989, and thousands of people breached that wall.

Walls are a status symbol, an egotistical display of raw power, much like unzipping your pants and showing off your junk. By building the damn thing, Trump and his hardliner Republicans are telling foreign "barbarians" that they, and they alone, have the power and the chutzpah to do this monstrous thing... so nyaah-nyaah!

Trump's wall probably won't be built because its an inefficient waste of money and personnel, but even so, people will find ways to breach the barrier.
