(20,051 posts)He knew the FBI was investigating Russian interference in the election via Trumps campaign at the time, and he said not one thing about it.
He has a hand in Trumps win no matter what he wants to pretend or now portray. At best, he inadvertently acted as a Russian tool. Something anyone in his position should have been wise enough not to due, but he did it anyway. He assumed he was laying ground work to chop the future Democratic President off at the knees. He wanted her coming in as tainted as possible so they could manage her and use their own propaganda to help Republicans in 2018 and 2020.
Having said that, I welcome his voice in fighting Trump, but I know hell turn on Democrats again when Trump is in the rear view mirror. All the Never Trump Republicans will, and some are already poking their toe in that pool just one year in. I saw them trying to agitate and stir dissent over DACA in regards to Schumer. Theyre still snakes. Theyre the enemy of our enemy, but not our friends. At best theyre brief allies in a battle, but they are fighting their own internal war, but were not on the same side in the big war for how this country should be governed.
Comeys legacy is forever tainted by his overreaching stupidity, and that gives me a small amount of comfort. I admit, I enjoyed watching him try and keep his head above water in the cesspool he helped create at first. When he finally sank at the hands of Trump the way he did, it was bittersweet since he was involved in the investigations into Trump. However, I still couldnt trust him to be fully unbiased even with that, but he was all we had at the time.
I still despise his treatment of Hillary, and I smirk when I see things like this from him. He cant erase his previous actions just because they had an outcome that wasnt what he expected. He owns his actions and the damage hes helped cause.
Thats my take on Comey.
